Plum Crazy will make it's way onto a Wrangler, but it looks like it will be the next gen before we see it.

Re: 2014 Wrangler - Colors

So my Hydro Blue FE arrived, just 32 days from order. Happy owner & daughter leaving after walk through our service building...thought I'd share. Lighting really doesn't do the color justice. Heavy metal flake, really is beautiful.

Saw one at the local dealer yesterday. It is well done but not my cup of tea.

Pat. Thanks for slight hope. I can't figure out why they can't offer Plum Crazy now, especially since it was considered early for 2014? Amp'd (too gold) and Dune aren't near any of the yellows I like (see 2014 Kia Soul). No good green iteration ... actually no green at all. Hydro is a possibility (haven't seen it in person yet) but its not available on Rubicon (unless you've heard otherwise), so no blue option.

If the next generation was the 2015 model, a Plum Crazy would only be about 9 months away. But there is also this possibility even if there is a diesel Wrangler in the next generation (2016 ?).

This shade of blue has looked good on many vehicles over the years. I reminds me of the blue I liked on my original purchased '87 Aerostar (lol). Yours looks good with the black top. Thanks for posting the picture.

Re: 2014 Wrangler - Colors

What color is that?

I like the direction... not crazy about the gloss black grill. I'd change it to flat or least semi gloss and go with a steel bumper.

Keep going Jeep. If you are dropping solid axle wranglers then gives some good ones before they die off.

Re: 2014 Wrangler - Colors

The color appears to be granite crystal and all Wrangler colors look to be available according to AllPar article below. Don't know if "all" colors includes already special edition colors like Hydro Blue. A green color would have been appropriate for this edition.

Yes. A dark green or olive type color would evoke more of the Willy's cue. Also a special edition seat that looked like the old canvas ones. I know the more you get into that stuff the further you kill the idea of an S model with the hard core off road basic idea.

Willys edition grill and Jeep badge were changed to a matte black.

Hydro Blue will most likely open for all Wranglers in the spring. Dune will close before the end of the year. The "Night" package will open early spring as well. It's a murdered out Sahara special Edition, all debadged, black leather, think of the 2012 Altitude package.

Next gen won't be 2015. 2015 is another carry over year. Look for another Rubicon X with a red leather option and possibly Duratracs from the factory on some trim levels.

I was told Plum Crazy was shot down because it was "too dark" for some of the Jeep execs.

I remember seeing a Willys Jeep in the late 1950s and have liked the looks and idea of Jeeps ever since. Chrysler has done a great job with Wrangler's design and the updating each year. Plum Crazy is great color, especially for a Wrangler, IMHO. "Too dark". Black is the darkest. The Blackish green of a few years ago was very dark. I'm just a customer so thanks to those Jeep execs for no Plum Crazy.

When I pull the trigger it may be a Flame Red Rubicon with red top and flares. I like the X but the black leather is too hot in the Arizona sun. I need cloth or at least the light brown leather which is not available on the X unless someone knows if that might change soon. I may leave off the automatic temperature control option though because it includes the filters to change which can be $50 or so as on my Grand Cherokee.

Thanks for the updates and information Pat, especially on 2015. Always much appreciated. Its fun to know those upcoming near and long term changes.

Have relatives in Washington, Illinois where the destructive tornado just passed through. Always good to have a 4WD in emergency situations, unless it gets picked up and dropped elsewhere.
