One question, what's a holdback?

Its 3% of MSRP that is guaranteed margin for the dealer. There are all kinds of pricing scenarios that a dealer can twist the deal to to max their margin depending on official pricing structures/programs and unofficial "gimmicks" they use to write up a deal. The net is that a dealer is very reticent to dip into their holdback in reality. At these gutted group buy and employee prices its the salesperson who gets their paycheck squeezed, the dealer ALWAYS makes money on every deal via holdback and dealer sales/unit goal achievement compensation.

Re: 2015 Discounts

Summit -- would you mind sending me the DC info, as well? In the market for a 2015 but struggling to get anything beyond the standard Tread Lightly discount here in New England. Thanks!

Will do but also go to truecar dot com and plug in your zip and config your jeep and it will show you 3 or so dealers and their lowest price along with msrp and invoice. That represents the best local market pricing so you know what DC does for you.

I went through TrueCar this afternoon with the 2015s and still managed to come in ~$200 above invoice (~$500 above TL discount). I didn't think New England would be so rough with prices but seems like the TL discount is best case scenario here.

It's a few hundred miles away but I'm thinking DC is close enough to make the 5% savings worthwhile...

Thanks 14SummitHemi. I'm in southern PA, but can travel to DC for 6% below invoice. Please send me the info for the DC dealer. Thanks

Thanks for the info! I'm sure there are others, like myself, who were wondering what and how the holdback worked.

Summit, do you have an idea of any dealerships in the Western PA? I would be willing to travel. Thank you!

No but u can search by zip on jeep dot com and also try truecar for com and it will pop out 3 dealers in/near your zip with a price that represents a very competitive (for your local MKT) internet type price.

Also go to the sticky here with the map pins for where members r and u can id some JG forum membs in your area and then send them a PM. Bet they can give you best good/bad dealer/price direction.
