Waiting another two years is so frustrating!

Take it with a grain of salt, but my humble (and somewhat experienced) opinion is that many owners would not be pleased with a current model year diesel. Emissions technology in the US will improve a lot over the next few years and save a lot of potential owners a great deal of heartache. Browse the WK2 threads a bit for a hint of some of their woes.

Here in SoCal, diesel is as cheap as regular gas (usually) and you can find it at 75% of the gas stations in the state. I have a turbo diesel Mercedes GL that gets better gas mileage and pulls up hills better than anything I've ever owned. I just don't want to take the wife's car off road.

The $5k higher price tag is more than offset by the additional 100k+ miles I would expect to get out of the engine.

[QUOTE=Klausvanwinkle;1046387]Probably. It sounds like they're not seeing enough diesel demand on the GC to justify it on the JK. idk if you'd really want it. Sounds like a costly option, more expensive maintenance and gas, urea refills, etc. And good luck finding low sulfur diesel in the rest of the Americas. The gas engine with the AEV fuel caddy probably gives you similar range to the diesel.

It may have nothing to do with demand, and everything to do with supply....Coming up with enough current factory space to produce a huge increase of diesel engines for USA, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and other countries, on a relatively short time line, is next to impossible. It may be that the soonest that manufacturing capacity can be increased (adding more factory space) for the diesel is '16.

As for "not wanting to take your money", that seems a bit naive; Jeep sells everything it can make now. You can't blame them for trying to maximize their profit potential and covering their previous R&D investments. Don't take it so personally.

For sure. There's no doubt the fuel economy and torque is far superior on current diesel options. It's emissions that deliver a lot of heartache in the current GCs

The cubby loss doesn't bother me because utility doors will more than make up that space.

Utility doors?

I did a quick Google search and couldn't find anything that seemed to make sense in that context.

Sorry if I missed this, but if Sunset Orange production is 9/29 what is the earliest date an order can be placed for it.

You can order pockets for tubular doors. I forget which company offers the two as a package, but I think you can find them on quadratec. The pockets come in a few configurations and you can get something similar that hands on the backside of the front seats. A search for cargo organizers is more productive. Bestop and smittybelt both offer a selection. Rear door, hanging seat backs, and tubular door.

If so that's annoying. I could have placed my June 11th order and had the truck a lot sooner. But it's nice to have some more news.
This is one of the reasons I just bought a 2014! Was waiting to see the copper brown, but who knows if it would be what I wanted. It has cloth seats w/heat. Very hard to find! Dont care for the sub in the storage compartment anyway. My hearing is shot, so upgrade stereo no big deal either. My GPS with lifetime maps and traffic will still fit in front of the tweeter standing up on the dash. Just seems that with nothing else that comes close to a jeep, they feel anything goes. Can do whatever they want and we will give in and still buy. I wish our "insiders" were running the company, things would be a lot different!! Without there invaluable info. we would all be in the dark!! Can you imagine placing an order the day before or after a change that you don't want. What would we do without them To say thank you will never be enough!

Just as was stated above, sooo annoying
