The rod goes right down to the cone I'm sure it is a marine grade speaker I have to find the tag that was attached my dog removed it for me but I did save it.so no there is not a clear cover under the grill

Thanks for that test - that kinda sucks it goes straight to the cone on the speaker - it may be an all weather speaker - but debris and junk will likely start to rattle. No fun

Also water. I've been caught out in the rain a few times without at top. I do not think they thought that one out very well. I guess it doesn't mater now. I'll deal with it until replacement time.

They did say it's all weather on the tag though.

I do have a few ideas on dirt/debris prevention I plan on testing when my truck arrives. Will keep everyone posted.

I wonder how easy it is to remove that sub. I would think removing it and having extra storage space in that compartment might be an option. I guess it depends on the sound value it brings to the overall system though.

Found the sticker from the sub.it looks like there are two extensions that go under the side trim panels the mounting bolts must be under there I don't want to rip my jeep apart to find them but I will see if tomorrow I could lift it enough for pictures .hope this helps
