I don't think slipping the colors or options out early hurts anything, except perhaps current Model Year (MY) inventory sales.
If you aren't looking at a 2015 you can probably swing a pretty good end of year clearance sale deal on a 2014.
Me, I have my heart firmly set on a 2015 and Jeep doesn't really have to peep much about colors and tweaks as I'm not likely to walk away.
I've been looking at Jeeps since last summer when I still had my 2010 Nissan Frontier Pro-4x. The only way for me to finally make the switch was to sell the Truck, buy a beater car for under 2k, save up and finally be able to purchase/lease (still deciding cheaper alternative long term) a 2015 White JKURX.
So I ended up selling the truck, buying a 2001 focus for 2k, and haven't had a car payment (not too mention gas savings...) since November 2013. I have my heart firmly set on that 2015 model just like you guys and figured I am in no rush, plus stealerships here in Miami are a joke.
Try to sell ice to an Eskimo if they had the opportunity. So last week I spoke to Brian W. from Fields Jeep in Orlando Fl. and he will call me back 1st week of August just before my 1 mo. vacation to Europe to make the order and start the process.
I appreciate all the advice and dealer recommendations I've gathered on this site and a similar one as well. After speaking with B.W. from fields for 5 minutes, I have a great feeling I will get the lowest possible price, best deal, and all the extras included with a stress free experience. Plus I get to make a mini road trip out of it living in Miami. The 300 mile drive will be a partial break in period...
