Just heard from a very reliable source I've been using for decades, when I asked if the platform will change soon, it said, "All signs point to no".

I asked my dealer not to prep the Jeep when it comes in (ie-no detailing, or removal of the plastic shipping materials, tape, etc) and they said they would PDI it, fill it with gas and leave the rest alone. What does PDI mean? Assuming its some sort of inspection the mechanics need to do?

PDI Is Pre-Delivery Inspection. I believe they are required to do that for safety/quality control reasons. Just in case there is something wrong with your Jeep they can do something about it before you see it.

I guess if depends on if you interpret these dates as model years or calendar years.

If Jeep comes out with a brand new Wrangler in the summer of 2017, I am pretty sure they would call it a 2018 model.
