Man, I hate looking at these rail updates, that's a lot of train time... Glad my JK will only have to go about 115 miles to the dealer. Heck, I could theoretically get same day delivery once it ships. That is if I ever get to place my order. Ah, the price you pay for waiting for the color you want.

The advantage is the fact that you can have it rolled into the financing if you so wish.
Disadvantage is that they almost always make you pay a HUGE premium AND the techs either don't regularly work on aftermarket suspensions or they farm it out to whoever you would have gone to in the first place... And then add a premium charge to it.

Bugger.

edit: I have seen a number of DSI models on lots, usually kitted out with Sh*ttybilt stuff. Looking to put Teraflex or AEV suspension on. I know DSI has a facility within 5 miles of a prospective dealership, but it looks like any other dumpy garage on the forgotten end of the road.

Guess I'm still better off buying the kit and having it done after purchase.

Find a good dealer that doesn't rip you off.

We charge $95/hour and for an AEV 2.5" lift with geo brackets we charge 6 hours labor. I think with tax it works out to be about in the $1700 range installed.

Sunset Orange. I keep my vehicles for at least 10-15 years, so I have to chose colors I know I can live with for a long time. I go with reds a lot but my 2002 Liberty is Flame Red so I don't want Firecracker Red on this one.

Another option is to have it drop shipped to AEV or just buy a vehicle from them.
Expensive, but the whole vehicle is covered through Chrysler for the warranty AND can still be rolled into financing...

Super awesome to have someone simply answer your question rather than point out that someone, somewhere in the history of the internet has posted that question...
I hope it works out for you! Just remember, JEEP = Just Empty Every Pocket.

Scarlet, that's a great price for a dealer. There are exceptions to every rule...

I've looked at AEV and it appears you get the lift as part of a package. Nice packages, but a lot of stuff I'm not interested in. I'm not buying something to be beautiful, I'm buying something to get me to the places my car suffers severe damage attempting or simply can't go.

I might have ordered a Jeep last year, but for a few thousand in damages going off-road, yet again in my VW Rabbit - that was a very expensive trip. Fancy embroidered seats, hoods, decals, not my cuppa. I just want to get out and crawl old rail grades, mine roads and wagon tracks from the 1800's

Might have to chat with Pat...

I spoke with one dealer who said I'd have to buy the lift kit ahead of time and they could have it installed. Has anyone gone through having the lift done where it could be included in the purchase price?
Mine's getting done today.
$10,000 parts/labor. Only put $5,000 down.
Maybe your lender won't advance enough to cover the upgrades?
Let me know if you have any questions.

Just FYI, I've spoken to Dave at AEV personally and you don't have to order a "package". You can have as much or as little as you want. All those things you mentioned, except seat embroidery and decals serve a purpose off road. But with that being said, I would have to agree that in your shoes I would just talk to Pat...

He doesn't - he's just a troll looking for attention. Ignore him and he'll move on to any of the other boards he's polluting.
