If I were anywhere close to Chicago, I'd be making every effort to be working with Pat's dealership, for the reasons you stated.

You get to 4% under and they make 1% over net, roughly $300 or so. It's your deal and your money, and there will be a lot of people telling you "screw the stealer", and that the $300 or so buys a lot of mods. It's a fair point too and I don't knock the lots of mods thought process. Like I said, it's your money, but letting the dealer make $300 plus any quota money on a $30k plus sale shouldn't be seen as being taken advantage of(like so many people think), and I think you will reap the rewards in the future.
Being in sales, I probably negotiate for my own things a little differently than most people. I want a good price but I like the person I'm working with to make some money too. I heard different opinions about "holdback" and "% off invoice" but I doubted all the different numbers flying around. I researched the price (sticker & invoice) for the vehicle/options I wanted and then decided what I thought was a fair price. We went back & forth a couple of times and got within $70. of what I wanted. Did I leave some money on the table? Maybe. Am I happy? Yes. Does my salesperson seem happy? Yes.

Everybody spends their money on something.
My dealer does high volume and when they meet their quota, they get a large bonus. So I don't exactly feel like they can't feed their families. My dealer is a friend, so he doesn't want my money. It's a nice position to be in! Everybody wins.

I'm in process of finalizing my order on a JKUR now, and I'm accounting for it with my salesperson even though it comes up as standard equipment @ $0.

I did, thank you. The order sheet that was emailed to me Shows the added price for the 4:10's. I probably won't even take delivery. I ordered a 2012 years ago and let them keep it. Bought a base sport (auto/hard top) for $27,400 OUT THE DOOR. With the $16k I saved, I geared (4.56), locked (ARB) etc etc and still came out on top

Angry re: 2015 Wrangler JK Information Thread

So now this 4.10 gearing price has me concerned.

I've ordered and made down payment on a 2015 Rubicon HR.

My Configuration Preview sheet show the DM8 "add 4.10 axle ratio" $0.00, or no charge.

Pat am I reading it to say that they are going to try to charge me more than what our contract "out the door" price was? I don't see how they can do that if the pricing was either their fault or Jeep's fault.

Of course now that I look further I see the little "note" at the bottom that says "prices and equipment on this priced order are subject to change or correction without prior notice." it also says: "Refer to vehicle invoice for final vehicle content and pricing."

I guess they make you wait 6 weeks to get one they figure you'll pay any price by then!!

I would be upset too, but I don't believe they did this intentionally. It appears to be an issue with the ordering system.

If your vehicle is built with 4.10's then you will have an $495 MSRP / $441 Invoice increase from what your paperwork shows.

I don't know what you have already negotiated as far as price, but I would just ask them what they would be willing to do for you to remedy the situation.

I saw a Dozer JKU with body color fenders and hardtop and that was the first thing I though of...

Exactly, well stated.

Others need to reference this post, because I'm sure this won't be the last time it comes up.
