Looking at one of the pics of the rear centered subwoofer from a 2015 with the forced alpine upgrade, it appears that it is just out in the open without covering. Does anyone who has put hands on one know if it seems fairly durable? Will it handle much cargo load?

Haha, very true. Worth a shot @ $5/can, and can easily go back to stock!

Other new owners have commented that is pretty durable. I have poked a several that I have been able to get into in the nearby lot.

It seems pretty sturdy, and strong. That being said there isn't a weight limit posted, nor does it say it is made out of vibranium. I am planning to put something over it that I used in my last cargo area to protect the sub, as well as keep the mat looking good.

someone said you can stand on the grill on top of the speaker. it does have holes in it though so dirt and sand can fall through it and hit the speaker cone.

Is this speaker easily removable? Could I just take it out and cover the opening?

Wamboo, thanks for the Tank pics
I've been waiting for some more pics
Mine is in D1 status with ETA of 9-18
Per MOT. Looks like they lifted the production hold.

I am not sure I would rip out a $695 speaker for extra space. But that is just me.

Need to see one in bright light with a black roof and black fenders. I am still probably going to go Baja but so far I have not had my socks knocked off and I like yellow.

You could, but it was nearly as expensive an option as the Willys package that came out a few months later. Way to expensive for me to justify. For that matter, I wouldn't drop a $1000 on these either when I can sell the stock wheels/ tires for a few hundred and then pay for some better wheels and tires

Btw, those Tank pics make it look almost more like a combo of Jeep/Natural Green and Charcoal. Will definitely need to see it with the black roof and fenders [that belong on a Jeep]. :-)
