TO be honest, I went with the Hard Rock because I was planning on ordering all of those options anyway AND I REALLY wanted the hood. You can buy the hood at QT for $600 + $120 for the vents + $150 shipping = $870 Then pay $500-600 to get it painted. So really I wouldn't have saved any money at all. It would have just been a hassle for me to mess with the hood.

I'll most likely eventually sell the Hard Rock bumpers and make a few $$$. You can't get much for the regular plastic wrangler bumpers.

In your shoes, that makes sense. I assumed that investing $$ in a steel bumper, you'd want aftermarket products with more functionality. Sounds like jeep has done its research and knows its target demographics. LOTS of people like "cool looking" jeeps. And a sizable amount still prefer to make them more about functionality and usefulness. My wife LOVES the HR addition...

I second the motion. Curiosity is peaking on the Duratraks everyone raves about as well!

Down boy, no need to knock on Hard Rock owners. I'm sure Hard Rock owners will get a lot of functionality and usefulness from their jeeps too, besides looking "cool."

There's ZERO knock on the HR. Different people use jeeps for different things. I'm ordering a 3.5" AEV lift and 35" duratracs. So hard core guys would look at my jeep and not invite me rock crawling. That in no way means that my jeep isn't capable and perfect for what I want. Conversely, the HR is aimed at a certain market segment. And it's not hard core rock crawlers or over landers. If someone is offended because they have a cool looking jeep, that's just silly.

Funny, I thought the X package came
Off the show room floor with functionality not included on other editions. We all prefer functionality, some of is just prefer to benchmark a bit higher than others <insert slap fight thingy here>
