Yes, great telescope. I don't have kids, but my other ride is a 2005 Mini Cooper S which I love. It has even done LA to Guatemala City and you can get a 40" flat screen in the back. That said, I like the 2-door and it is better for the most hard core off-road, but the 4-door will get me where I want to go, it has space and I can take friends / family too. Check your needs / desires, but both 2 and 4 doors are great vehicles.

I'm preparing to order a new Unlimited. I plan on sticking to city streets with my Jeep. I love the look of the bumpers, hood, etc... on the Hard Rock but everything else is definitely overkill for my needs. My last JK was a Sahara which served me well and I like the painted top and fenders. Right now I'm leaning towards a Sahara and upgrading the hood, but not the bumpers because I'm not trying to fool people/myself that my Sahara is a RHR.
A couple of questions....
1. If I buy a hood after the fact, is it best to get it painted by the dealership? Will it really match? Or will I always look at it funny every time I wash it?
2. If I'm really looking for a Sahara with a little more wow factor, am I better off just buying the Altitude because it comes with the upgraded hood?
3. Any news on an Altitude for 2015? I don't think I've seen any yet. It would be great if they had the 2015 Altitude with a few more subdued colors.

Thanks. I appreciate everyone's input as the people on this thread seem really knowledgable and experienced.

Being that you're not a "wheeler", I would stick with the Sahara. The Altitude hood has a power dome, not even functional unless you plan to fry bacon & eggs in a pan on top of your engine with the hood closed. LOL.

If you're going to go thru the trouble/cost of getting a new hood, get the Rubicon Hard Rock hood, at least is functional for heat reduction. It will be hard to color match a metallic paint. It's much easier to match a solid color. You also have very limited color choices with the Altitude and Polar editions. You'll have a lot more colors to choose from with the Sahara.

My suggestion would be to go with the Sahara and then add a black wheel/tire combo along with black taillight protectors and a black fuel filter door. I'd also "86" the silver bumper inserts as well. Your Sahara will have a more distinctive/tougher look to it. I would also go with the black top to further add contrast to the painted body and fenders. This is my plan for a new 2015.

Lastly, get the Trac-Lok rear diff and tow package with the 3.73 gearing.

Good luck!

Wrong approach. I think you should park the "Sold" orders up on that big rock formation that most dealerships have with the sway bar disco'd so that the new owner is extra impressed with their new capabilities :-)

Question: If the HR rear bumper comes tire carrier ready, who manufacturers the tire carrier that it accepts and is it possible to mount a Hi-Lift on it?

AEV makes it. American Expedition Vehicles - Brute Kit, V8 HEMI, Aftermarket Jeep Conversions, Products, Wheels, Accessories and Highline Kits for Jeeps (TJ, JK, WK, XK).

The hi-lift mount is extra, $205 on AEV's site.

I ordered them on my 2d Sport. IF I remember right, the S package may be required before you can put the airbags on a sport.

Did you order a 2014 or 2015? I hope that they can be ordered on a Sport S in 2015.

I just found 3 2015 Sport S WITH the supplemental airbags. I guess that question is answered after an hour of searching options.

re: 2015 Wrangler JK Information Thread

I have ordered a 2015 JKS. Waiting on it to be built.

That sounds a little more confrontational than strictly required, just FYI. Most folks are quite willing to help answer questions. Dialing back the evaluative elements increases this tendency.

The 3.73s being included with tow depends on the platform. If I remember, Sahara is the "lucky" one where you buy tow pkg and get the gears. Sport, you just get the hitch and wires with tow pkg and have to pay separately for 3.73s. I can't speak to Rubicons, because I don't think I'm ready for that jelly. I also can't speak to whether this holds for 4-doors, 'cause I've never been looking at those.

The customer order info sheet that Milous provided - instructions for getting that are early-ish in this thread - explains this in the pkg descriptions and definitions. It took a few readings (perhaps I'm slow), but I figured out that, for my 2D sport s, tow pkg didn't get me the gears.

So I ordered the gears for $441 and not the tow hardware. It's reportedly bolt-on and clip-together, so I'll do it myself for $80 instead of paying the $263.

Good luck.

While I appreciate meaningful responses, I am not interested in being chastised for asking a very specific, rather technical, question about specific orders. I made it clear at the outset that I was asking a specific question about an issue that might have recently changed. I wasn't looking for a quick generic incorrect answer. I wasn't looking for conjecture. I wasn't looking for anything other than the real answer to my specific question(s). I simply don't find it helpful to chime in with an answer that isn't responsive to the question asked. It is a waste of time for all involved and simply pushes the legitimate unanswered question further back in the mire of posts that has become this thread. I have read every post in this thread over an extended period. I have done my research. I was actually hoping that somebody "in the know" like Pat or Milous would answer with a meaningful response that I could trust. I note that this question has not been answered in this forum or the "other" forum. The CORRECT answer must be of interest to several people.

I try not to post more than is necessary and try to be direct in my questions. I don't feel that I have much to add otherwise. I don't consider this post, or any of the previous posts to be confrontational. If you do, you might need thicker skin.
