If I ordered my 2 door Rubicon already with the AHT tow group am I looking at a delay? Is it still available for previously finalized orders?

The way I understand it, each month the dealers are given a specific number of allotments for vehicles. They can either use them for specific customer orders or for dealer stock vehicles to sell off their lot. I have no idea how many total they get, but I bet there's a formula based on their market and sales history. I don't know how likely this is, but if you go in to place an order and the dealer has already used up their allocation for the month, you'll have to wait for the next months allocation. So sorta first come first serve. However, I suppose a dealer could use up his full allocation right away for dealer stock on the first day his new allocation is released and not take any individual orders.

I would recommend trying to make a deal up front before the allocation release of the month you wish to order.

My personal situation is that I tried to order a Sunset Orange JK in early July only to find out it wasn't available yet. Turned out to be a good thing because I started researching and found Jeep Garage and armed myself with Pat and Milous' knowledge. I also found out I couldn't order Sunset Orange until Sept 8th. So I spent August haggling with dealers and getting my deal set up. Right away I found out most dealers are clueless about their own processes and wouldn't quote on a vehicle that wasn't available on their computer. Look for a dealer more remote used to dealing with farmers... Farmers special order vehicles (cause they know what they want/need and don't want to pay for a lot of other crap) and those dealers are used to hard minded frugal farmers. Anyway, I picked my dealer on a combination of price, responsiveness and his knowledge of the system. It's worth paying a fair price to work with a dealer that makes the process smoother. So my dealer made the deal and took my deposit three weeks before it can actually be ordered. Now I'm doing my best not to go crazy waiting for Sept 8th.

So in short, I'd say get moving now on your deal/order so it can drop in on Sept 8. Maybe our Jeeps will be line buddies!

Great reply and sound advice. I think I'll call my dealer tomorrow. Maybe our Jeeps will be production line buddies haha.

Thanks a bunch.

Last may I had to pass on a 2014 Willys wheeler I had ordered ( I just couldn't justify the expense). If I re-ordered today, the exact same configuration will cost me $755 more than the one from May!
I guess they can keep increasing the price, since people keep buying them!
I honestly don't get the point of the current Willy's but that's just me, especially when it comes from the price standpoint of where its at now.

My suggestion would be either different rails or a taller girlfriend

Nah, I think I'll keep her. Last night I showed her the rails I ordered and she was pretty happy that I had already bought steps for her when my Jeep hasn't even been ordered yet. Scored some points there!

If you can find a way to convince her that EVERY mod is for HER benefit, you'd be in good shape.

For a factory order you can get a Sport or Willys and get the same functional options.

But if you are shopping on the lot, you know a Willys will have the tires/wheels/suspension you want without having to check every single Sport model.

The sticker package may not sway you but having a factory Willy's is different than having a factory Sport and that may matter to some people.

That could prove difficult... funny thing is, I wouldn't have any rails on it if it hadn't been for her needing the step.

Fortunately, she won't care what I do to it anyway because I don't have any crazy monster mod plans for it. Already built a '46 CJ2A from the ground up.
