Jeep diehards will tell you all real Jeeps come with black fenders and black tops. I personally love the contrast of the black fenders & tops so that is what I got. I think the all body color looks to much like a Hummer H3 but Jeep is making lots of extra money on them so obviously a lot of people like them. I think the black Jeeps do look pretty good with body color fenders & painted top though. The important thing is for someone to buy what they like since they are the ones paying for it.

Ironic since Jeeps from 1941 through the YJ came with body colored fenders as stock...

However, on the JK's I personally like the black fenders better. And blacktop regardless of fender color.

I have the painted fenders and top on my 2011, and will be ordering the black fenders and top on my new JKUHR. I think the new one (Tank) will look better with the contrast.

Body colored fenders (It's a Sahara), but black top. I wanted a little bit of contrast.

BTW, I'm 99% decided on Tank, but I'm trying to see one in person before ordering.
I'm in central PA. Not sure how far you are from Philly but if you want a dealer contact in the Harrisburg area send me a PM. The only way you are going to see Tank in person right now is to drive to a dealer in OH that has one of the PreSpec Tank Wranglers (only 2 that are out there):

Cincinnati, OH 2015 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon New SUV Dayton, OH Florence, KY Jeff Wyler Eastgate Auto Mall | A24884 | 1C4BJWCG8FL526630

Or wait a few weeks until they hit the lots.

At a minimum, join Tread Lightly 30 days before you take delivery of your Jeep to guarantee 1% below dealer invoice. You have to join at a specific level to be able to use the Chrysler Affiliates Program discounts.

Some people are negotiating even more than that.

Good Luck.

My 2012 Sahara has the painted fenders but black top to add contrast. Although, the tank color looks mighty good with the painted fenders and top...

Aside from personal taste, if I were wheeling on rocks and in the bushes, I would definitely get black fenders due to expected damage. I don't do any wheeling, as the Jeep is here mainly for winter travel ability.

I've commented on this before, but I wish Jeep would offer a factory black wheel and tire package that also gives you the black rear taillight protectors and fuel door just for the Sahara model. It should also eliminate the wimpy looking grey inserts on the bumpers and leave them just black.

I have a problem with the black fenders when they start fading and turning grey. It drives me crazy to see a jeep that has faded fenders . I see to many here in south Florida in the hot sun. My new jeep will have painted fenders & top when I place my order. Its a personal choice. If I did get a 2nd jeep used or with black fenders I would replace the fenders with after market Xenon, MC, BW ect.
