If you live in the great North with frigid temps the "engine block heater" ($95 msrp) is an inexpensive option.

Jumpimg in on a few recent posts:

Black leather concerns - I've had the top off in LA in 90's and sun for the last few days and while the seats have been warm, they are not burn-my-legs hot. Plesently surprised. Light leather would be cooler but I wont be adding seat covers as I feared I may have needed to.

Gearing - love my 4:88's with 35" tires. The 3:73's were much too sluggish on the highway. I would encourage 4:10's even with 33's. My highway milage is 17-18 at 70 mph. Overall is 13-14 mostly because the jeep is "quick" with the gearing and I enjoy using the extra power.

Mud terrain/AT's - I ended up with procomp x - terrain and they are a little loud but not howling even on the freeway with the top off. If you start with AT's and get used to them, the change will be more noticable (I had AT's on a prior JK and MT's as a second set and it took a bit of getting used to). If you start with MT's you may likely not mind/notice the noise.

These just my opinions of course after 700 or so miles. Generally the '15 is a big upgrade from my '09.

I got the 730N. If I had to do it over again, I would have went with the 430N. The biggest reason is that the 730N uses Harmon NAV, whereas the 430N uses Garmin NAV. Not that Harmon NAV is bad, but everything else I use has Garmin NAV so I am just more use to it and its menus. Plus, the 'net has all sorts of mods to Garmin, like changing the map's vehicle icon to that of a Jeep.

True, the 730N has extra features like split screen (map + directions), but since you can have the turn-by-turn directions displayed on the EVIC, the split screen has little practical value.

Make completely sure that you understand what gearing is default, and what that tow package includes.

Other folk than me are smart about the special Rubi relationship between manual vs auto trans, which I believe carries gearing implications, and whether tow pkg does of doesn't include gear ratio upgrades.

I hope I'm not muddying the water here. The topics seem to come up every now and then, sometimes with tears involved. Much better to read a lot and THEN order than the reverse...

Pretty simple: on Rubicons the manual tranny comes with 4.10, automatic with 3.73 (4.10 optional for another $500 or so). The gearing is slightly more convoluted when you start looking at non-Rubi models

The tow package includes nothing beyond the hitch and 4-pin wire harness. Some people prefer to save several hundred bucks by installing an aftermarket hitch & harness kit.

I am actually shocked at how little road noise these tires produce. Most of the 450 miles I have put on so far have been on pavement and it is not something that is really that noticeable. This is true with both the hard and soft tops.

The tires were great for exploring muddy fire roads over the weekend!

Looks like my JKUR Tank was built at midnight last night! Quite a surprise. Wonder is Archer saw it pass by.

About to order the 2015 JKUR. Is Premium sound required on the Rubicon? If not, and I only order with standard sound and leather seats, will I still have the storage area where the new subwoofer goes?

If it is required, I guess the premium sound and leather package is the way to go?

That's how I thought I remembered it too...thanks. Vince mentioned keeping 3.73s, but I didn't see any mention of auto in his build plan, so clarification seemed in order.

For the 14s at least, IIRC, there was a Max Tow option that was a huge waste of $ if buying a Rubi because the pkg included the standard Rubi gearing. Might not be an issue any more. Might not have affected both trans.

In any case, Vince, take your time to read up and build it how you expect it, and thanks Fish for chiming in.

My apologies I was not clear. I will be ordering the automatic, since my wife wants to drive it from time to time. So the 4.10 will be done as an add on.
