re: 2015 Wrangler JK Information Thread

Just got back from the dealership. For a Billet JKURHR w/ sticker at $47500, was offered preferred price and an extra $1k off for total of $41970 + tax. I thought that was a pretty good price. He told me if I ordered it today, it would arrive in November. What do you guys think? Good price? Right time frame?

November seems like a long wait for a color in production since the beginning...

Thats a good deal. My JKURHR price was 43,400 and msrp was 46,550. I ordered it on 8/23 and should ship on the 12th. I couldn't find anyone to go more than 1% or maybe 2% under invoice here in Kansas City. I think they told you Novmeber just incase it took a long time.

Does anyone have a favorable experience with a dealer in the Southern California area, specifically in the Inland Empire (San Bernardino, Riverside Counties)? Thanks for any leads.

re: 2015 Wrangler JK Information Thread

Well, add me to the list of orders. I learned to drive in a stick-shift baby blue CJ7 back in 1983. We kept that CJ for another 10 years and I drove the hell out of it - no top, no doors ever. I bought a 1979 Cherokee Chief a few years ago, but sold it on a year later. Owned a lifted XJ for awhile. Then bought a 45k-mile 1986 CJ7 with a manual when my boys requested that I buy a Jeep. I kept that for three years, but driving that on the highway in Houston with little boys seemed seriously unsafe. Sold it but very much missed it. Just dropped in an order for a 2015 this morning. Since I'm an old-school guy, I bought this Jeep to be the 'family Jeep' for evermore:

2-door Rubicon in Tank
6-spd manual
Power windows/locks (had to talk myself into this one)
Heated cloth seats for top-off winters (really wanted, so power pkg required)
Stock radio but Alpine setup
Bluetooth for iphone music
Airbags for extra safety
Black hardtop

Not a lot of fu-fu. No leather, no nav, no painted fenders/top. When we get it in October, the top and doors will be removed, put in storage, and probably never put on again. I'm stoked.

Thanks everyone for the reading material - it helped a lot. I've never ordered a truck before so I wasn't quite sure of the process, but now I know! It's all very much appreciated. Great site.

I saw on the Uconnect site that a Garmin update will be available in October. How does this get downloaded and applied on the 430N? Thanks!
On my 730N, I just did a firmware update to v2.600 and a Gracenote app update. Both were on DVD's, and installed by loading each DVD into the unit and following the menu prompts. These updates are freely distributed; simply download an .ISO file and use it to generate/burn your own DVD.

Honestly, I don't track updates for the 430N. So, I can't tell you when the next one is due.

Just let me add, these are not map updates. Map updates are linked to your VIN, and have to be purchased (hundreds of dollars for each map update ). That goes for both the 730N and the 430N. Map updates seem to come out rather rarely, and seem to be already old even when they first come out. Some people have attempted to hack in their own Garmin map updates to the 430N, with varying success.

I wonder if the heated seats are any better for 2015?

They there pretty inconsistent for 2014. Some people reported that theirs would heat up quickly, and toast their butt well. Others (like me) have to wait 15 to 20 minutes for the seats to get even slightly warm. For the latter, Jeep and dealers are of no help (surprise, surprise). My dealer said that since there were no error codes, they must be working as designed (didn't even bothered to actually "feel" them).

I guess my butt will see. I read about the inconsistencies. I'll just argue with the dealer service dept if the seats don't do a decent job.

Can someone tell me about this so called "recovery kit" that comes with JKU HR? I called dealer today and he had no idea. What's in it!

It's gloves, straps, rings...

http://www.amazon.com/Jeep-Winch-Rec.../dp/B0090QG1PS

It will be in the parts department. The sales people are usually clueless.
