re: 2015 Wrangler JK Information Thread

I went to the Jeep Canada site as it is set up for 2015's and saw that their pamphlet is slightly different than the US one in this thread. They had a much larger picture of the Copper Brown Sahara so I cropped it and clicked the 'enhance' button in iPhoto which darkened it a little bit.
Since I haven't seen that color getting much mention on here I'm going to post it.

The link to their pamphlet is:

Wasn't that the new way of Saturn? And Olds tried to pick up on that too. They "lowered" the sticker price, and everyone paid that. No deviations, even on left overs.

I am sure when ever anyone in the auto industry thinks of doing that again, someone asks for a moment of silence in the memory of Saturn and Oldsmobile.

re: 2015 Wrangler JK Information Thread

Hey all, thanks for all your inputs about my situation. My sales rep is a friend, and she isn't trying to take money out of my pocket, but they just didn't keep up with industry news like we do here. So, the dealership is contacting Jeep to try and get the prices restored to the deal we struck. One issue is that the 4:10 gears were a zero cost option on paper, but that was a typo all along (right?) and so there was ~$450 hidden in there. Those of you who had price protection, did it cover your gearing if you selected 4:10s? That would be good to know. I'm not complaining about my experience, but I am right there with you all when it comes to dealer knowledge. Some of us have a much different concept of ownership than most other consumers.
This would all be much more simple if I weren't overseas till December. There are military new car sales, but man, if you think stateside dealers are missing out on stuff....I stay away from them.

The wait is over, my Tank JKHRRU made it to the Dealership in Sanford.
Thanks for all the great info and tracking from this site.
I'll post some more pics when I pick up.
These were courtesy of the Dealership.

I played "what-if" with the Canada site and notice the Katzkin interior. What is that? Slip on covers?

I am sure when ever anyone in the auto industry thinks of doing that again, someone asks for a moment of silence in the memory of Saturn and Oldsmobile.
My first 4 cars were Old's as was my 6th (back when a used car cost $2-300 any day of the week). What GM let the division turn into almost makes me cry. So much history and heritage lost.
Saturn did do the no haggle thing I think and at the end the corpse that was Old's might have too.

Around here (Rochester NY) we have a chain owned by a woman who decided when she took over the business post diviorce that she would base her dealership (Subaru only then) on 2 things: no haggle best price up front and customer service to the max. Not "look at our waiting room and it's marble floor and granite counters" service, but "here is my direct cell phone number" service.
My mom just called her 2 weeks ago about a recall on her Outback and she picked right up. She now has a Ford and Chevy dealership too with the same deal. Another female owned dealership chain east of here is run similarly. I don't know of any Jeep dealers that do that, at least not from Syracuse to the PA border past Buffalo.

Growing up in the business I have no problem with fair profit being made and get the operating costs, etc. with running a dealership....... other than those marble floors and granite counters, but in many places that is Corporate demanding that (see Harley for how they decimated the small dealers recently by demanding improvements or even relocation 'near a highway' for the effect that has).
But seeing over and over just in this thread that guys have to ask for the recovery kit is one of those things that makes me cringe. I bet every one of those dealers makes sure that a license plate frame (or sticker if places still ruin paint jobs with those) is on that person's Jeep before they pick it up yet they don't insure that a 100% included item isn't sitting in the cargo area? Unacceptible. Unacceptible on the salesman, the prep guys and the parts department.
When I bought my first Jeep 20 years ago I told the dealer that if anyone had a right to advertise on the truck it was the bank holding the note, since they actually owned it. Other dealers have deals where you get a discounted oil change price if you have the plate frame on when you bring it in, etc. That's cool, but otherwise it is just one more sign of the 1950's way of the car business.
I have no loyalty to a dealership if they aren't willing to be honest and loyal to me as a customer, which is why I would have no problem spending 2 days on a train to buy all the way in Illinois if I knew I was getting a fair price and dealing with a stand-up guy. Plus I dig trains.

Katzkin makes some superb leather seat coverings. A lot of folks in the car show world love their products. ...or well, did 10+ years ago when I was still in that world, but I see their names enough these days to still believe it to be true. I'm still in the debating phase, but if I do decide to put money into the 06 GTO I bought back in June, I'll probably look them up to see what interior choices they'll have for that car. We don't off-road as often as we should, but I can't see wanting to pay Katzkin premium prices on a Jeep. Our '04 has had neoprene seat covers on it since about 1 month after we bought it, though.

As for specifically "slip on"? Back when I knew about them you tended to have to take your car to an upholstery shop to have them put on. Perhaps that's changed, but back then I believe seats tended to have to come out to be outfitted with Katzkin leather.

I agree 100%. I'm probably going to dream up a trip to FL to pick one up there if Pat and I can work out an arrangement where I won't have to get a next day plane ticket kind of deal and he can get it set up to be received down there (if PCP ever comes out). Wheeee, 28 hour road trip to get it home!

Yes, Illinois is probably closer/cheaper, but I have some not-exactly-time-sensitive business to do in FL in person.

I've never had an issue where we were last minute like that at either location. I've held Jeeps here for a couple weeks for out of state customers. I know Milous does the tracking here for members, but I track the IL customers vehicles and send updates and I think Brian in Sanford does the same.
