Is there wiring that I need to do so the unit knows I'm in reverse? I have a manual transmission by the way. Thanks for any input.
For the 430N there's a specific connector you can use to wire up the camera. The full kit from brandmotion includes the connector but you can buy it separately elsewhere. The camera should have five wires, three go into the 430N, one for power from either the cigarette lighter (or from one of the reverse lights if you're doing a custom job and don't want the camera powered all the time) and one for ground.
For routing the wiring, I'd peruse the AEV instructions and the Brandmotion ones as well. Get some trim removal tools to avoid marking up the plastic pieces. The interior comes apart really easily. Just go slow and be careful.
If you go with the tire-mounted camera, I'd recommend running the wiring through the door via an unused rubber grommet that is to the right of the tire carrier (looking forward). Brandmotion instructs you to route it through one of the flapper vents but I didn't like the idea of that. Seemed sloppy.
