Why pay $495 for auto start when a local third party can do it for much less. In my area, the auto start would cost $249 installed.

Pat,
You posted earlier that a new special model will come out as a Wrangler X. Do you know if it will have the same power hood as the Rubicon Hard Rock?
Same hood as 2012 Call of Duty, 2013 Moab and 2014 Polar Edition.

Definitely illegal???
Be careful talking in absolutes without knowing all the facts.

Legal in my state:

CA DMV VC 25100:

(1) At least one amber clearance lamp on each side mounted on a forward-facing portion of the vehicle and visible from the front and at least one red clearance lamp at each side mounted on a rearward-facing portion of the vehicle and visible from the rear.

CA DMV VC 25950:

(c) All lamps and reflectors visible from the front, sides, or rear of a vehicle, except headlamps, may have any unlighted color, provided the emitted light from all lamps or reflected light from all reflectors complies with the required color.

The lenses are clear but the bulb is amber so it complies with the law.

If you have the dealership install it prior to picking it up, it's covered under your factory warranty.

Are Duratraks included in Hard Rock Rubicon? Sorry for repeated posts, Pat had mentioned this great tire earlier, but not the model it's being packaged with for 2015. Thanks!

No duratracs, just the BFG KMs. However it does have the 1/2" lift like the 2013 10A. KM2s might become an option later.

Did the rubicon x have the .5 in lift as well or are they bringing it back for the new one?

Pat, do you have your current work schedule listed on this site somewhere? I'd like to work through a jk order with you and figured I would just stop in; naperville isn't too far of a trip.

There are many reasons that I have such as I would prefer it to be a warrantied item, dealers in Alaska many times will not install autostarts on manual, I don't want 2 different FOBs, and prices generally run $249 for the autostart +$100 for the bypass harness +$100 for the install (depending on where I get it - some places like best buy do it for free but I digress).

For $495 I can have it factory installed and be done with it. I have had Viper (mostly) and Compustar autostarts for 15 years and most of the fancy features haven't been worth it to me.
