Sorry, I should have been more specific. Here are the three angles I am thinking about using up here in Alaska when I go to order. (FYI for non-Alaskans: dealers charge insane prices up here because there is little competition)
1) Tread lightly aka the AR (affiliate rewards). This is my last resort option not because it isn't a good deal but because I have read that people are able to get even better deals on ordered jeeps. Again, we are in Alaska so that may not be the case. I don't have any Chrysler dealer experience up here so hopefully they are amiable to this option because I have read about dealers in the lower 48 balking about the tread lightly.
2) emailing. Apparently people are getting better than 1% under invoice while ordering by sending an email with an itemized invoice sheet for the exact Jeep you want (Google it or ask around how to get this if you are unsure) to all the dealerships in their area and asking who will give the best offer. Apparently many dealerships will ignore you and some will respond. Sometimes people get really good deals this way especially on on-the-lot vehicles. BTW in the Anchorage/MatSu area we have Anchorage Chrysler Dodge, Lithia Dodge in South Anchorage, and Lithia in the Valley. I don't know who is a good dealer and who isn't. If anyone has any experience with them I am all ears.
3) Costco. You can buy vehicles using a discount Cosco program. Get the pamphlet from the little rack at the entrance to Cosco and call the number on it. They have pre-negotiated pricing with Costco on all kinds of vehicles and will point you to a dealer that they work with. All you have to do is show the dealer your card. I have read of people who got good deals on this but I am not sure. I will look into it before I order.
Anyway, I hope that is helpful. Please let us (or me via PM) how it goes for you as I am curious about our dealers.
