2016 JK check engine light issue

I am going in for my first oil change and the dealer mentioned the would flash my JKU for some check engine light issue as a result of a recent service bulletin. I have not had any check engine light issues and would hate for the flash to create issues. Has anyone else come across this? Should I tell them to leave it alone or let them flash it?

It's probably the P0300 issue that's cropping up on the 2016's.
FIAT must have changed the software for detecting misfires for 2016MY.
The TSB addresses this issue:

2016 JK/JKU P03** Engine misfire ROLL CALL - Jeep Wrangler Forum

Should you get it done if you aren't getting any MIL's or CEL's? I'm in the same boat with that question. I'll probably just let them do it when I get my first oil change, even though my 2016 at 1,200 miles hasn't thrown the code yet.

I would do it. The issue will come back to bite you after your warranty expires and then they will charge you for that tsb plus diag fee. Cars are full of software nowadays and software is full of bugs.

My 2016 JKU (auto trans) gave me a check engine light two days ago just as it hit 97 miles. My local mechanic plugged in to read a random misfire. I found the July 2016 technical service bulletin on the Wrangler Forum. It's all about those misfire and other readings needing a flash at the dealer. I've got an appointment this Thursday to get it looked at. I'm hoping it's just a software issue.
At first the dealer wanted me to wait until August 15th because they're busy with Cherokee recalls. I pushed on it but we'll see what happens when I get there.

After all that I went to the dealer today and they said no flash is needed if mine is not throwing the codes. Different answers from same place.

Keep a written record of this stuff. Lemon laws may come into play.

I have not had any issues. The first person at the dealer said others had so they would update my software at oil change anyway. However today they said no need if no light coming on. The TSB just came out so maybe there was some confusion.

I guess I wouldn't want them messing with something that was working fine either.
But if the same problem shows up for you later on and you're out of warrantee, you want to show the flash wasn't done by the dealers decision, not yours.

Good advice. Thanks. My invoice makes it look like they checked for TSB but is not really clear if they did it or not. Service advisor verbally said they did not. I will use the language on the invoice to argue if the issue comes up later. I will also ask at my next oil change after the TSB has been out longer.
