2016 Wrangler Defroster

Silly question, but on my 2016 Rubicon Hard Rock, I can't seem to find a good combination to totally defrost the front windshield and door windows in warm, rainy weather, without having to swipe the windshield wipers to clear the glass. Any suggestions?

If the build-up is inside, do you have the A/C 'on'? That is what is used to dry (dehumidify) the air that's blown on the windshield.

If the build-up is outside, do you have the temp set high enough? That is what is needed to heat the windshield so that water vapor doesn't condense on it.

Re: 2016 Wrangler Defroster

Thanks for this info to what seems a really silly question. Build up was "outside" so, I'm assuming I didn't have the temp set high enough as the cabin was rather warm. Will try that next time.

Re: 2016 Wrangler Defroster

You are most likely using the defroster setting to direct air flow to the windshield with your temperature setting to the coldest. In defrost mode, the a/c compressor usually runs to dehumidify the cabin air, which aids in keeping the inside from fogging. This will cool the windshield and side windows resulting in condensation especially in warm, humid climates. Try moderating your temperature adjustment, otherwise the glass will sweat on the outside just as a glass of ice water does. If you set the temperature control to the hot side you should notice the windshield begin to clear on the outside as the moisture evaporates.

I understand that. Its a trade off of getting the windshield glass warm enough to prevent condensation on the outside, without "cooking" the occupants inside the vehicle. Some people, try to open their windows a bit, to get some cooler air in to compensate.
