This is correct. It will be a aluminum Body on frame, with a aluminum steering gear. The steering linkage will be beefed up.
There will also be some updates to the Pentastar 3.6 engine, along with a 8 speed automatic trans.

It will still retain the solid axles, so no IFS......

They are obviously reducing weight, to meet the Feds mandates!!!!!!

I thought solid axles would be welcome news... I like them.

Yeah, Jeep has to meet CAFE standards which are rapidly tightening. While every new model Jeep introduces gets a flurry of B!@#$ blogging session from "purist"... those smaller fuel efficient Jeeps are the reason they can even entertain a next generation Wrangler.

I love my 2014 Granite Unlimited Rubi X but I am also already preparing myself for possibly buying a 2016 towards the end of their order window if/when I start seeing some ideas of where the 2017 redesign is going and I don't like it.
When does the order window close each year?

Dark blue for some models the USAF had when it came into being in the late 40s. A flat fender design, steel bumpers, some kind of flat SE wheel that looks like the original (maybe similar to the modern overland type used on those rigs)... OD color heavy duty fabric seats that has rich tactile texture to them. I guess the current Willys editions are close to that. Special order lettering if you wish. (They started custom terrain inspired hood decals last year).
Not wishing for much there, eh? How about a $75,000 version that includes a Hemi and the aftermarket Dana 60s?

Oh the Hemi was a given!

$75k? You work for Jeep? Geez Hemi Chargers start about $38k. But of course like everything else, a Hemi engine in a JK is more expensive to build... so probably a $20k option by itself.

Re: 2016 Wrangler Information

If 2016 remains pretty much the same as 2015 w/o no PUG engine update and the NAG trans it might be the last good year for the Wrangler for a while. Once they start making first year changes i sit on the sidelines and let other buyers do the testin of the new stuff, and then read about it on the boards. First year Pstar fiat multi-air direct injection sounds like a headache to me. Change is great, just as long as it isn't the first year of change.

I heard the GC would get the PUG engine before the Wrangler, so those guys will do the tesin first, if i heard right.-Rockydee.

Any idea what the Direct injection will add to the 3.6 for increase in HP and Tourque?

Lots of guesses out there nothin concrete. Tell you the truth I'll pass on it for a few years, and let others tell me about it on these boards.-Rockydee.

I just figured 75th anniversary should cost $75k, right? And I meant Mopar parts Dana 60s, not aftermarket, of course.

Re: 2016 Wrangler Information

Could be a basis for a 75th Anniversary ode to the MB...

Flat fenders, steel bumpers, pioneer tools, steel wheels, 2 door, stick, radio whip antenna, canvas top, cigar humidor for the Commanding General...

yep $75k.

You forgot the "official use only" beer bottle opener (its just under the passenger's side A pillar).

BTW, its based off a 4-door Unlimited, not a 2 door.

Yeah I know. I meant to write "2-Door"... you can put those items on a 2 door and it would have an uncanny resemblance. And I don't know how I did not list the $75.00 BBO FOUO option... but my bad.
