re: 2016 Wrangler JK Information Thread

Thinking out loud here... Save your hate for something else please...

I sit here waiting like a fool for a color on a Rubicon for who knows how long.
Have 50 THOUSAND dollars to spend and Purple becomes available.
Only on a model I really don't want -needing the goodies that come with the Rubicon model.
I sit here thinking I now have to spend that money on a color I don't want, sure there are nice ones there but it's not the purple I've waited for.
So I spend the money on another color and guess what...purple becomes available after all OR NOT...
I feel like a fool for playing this game at all. So I buy now and feel like I didn't get what I wanted...doesn't help me one bit.
If anyone from Jeep is reading this get your shit together and offer all color's on all models so your customer don't feel they spent their HIGH dollars and got nipped in the game.

Can't believe I can't buy my Rubicon today...or on 10/8/2015 because my color "may, who knows" become a option.

If I recieve my Rubicon and then after a month or two or whatever this model year the color hits the Rubi model I won't be happy and wish I had something other than what I wanted.
Terrible feeling after spending all the cash and wishing I had a different color.

Peace out!

I think that's your problem. You're making up stuff, and what you are inventing, is making you upset. That "may, who knows" only exists in your mind.

The reality right now, is that XP is a limited color that's only offered on this one special edition. Period. End of story.

Hay, I wanted Copperhead for my Rubicon X. It wasn't offered on that model (was on the regular Rubicon). I went with something else, because predicting the future is impossible and futile. Yea, like 6 months later, Jeep offered Copperhead on the Rubicon X, but for only one week.

Should I have waited? No. There was no guarantee that it would be offered even after waiting 6 (more) months. And what if after 6 months, I missed calling my dealer during that brief one week?

As with any vehicle, pick a color you like from those actually being offered, and pull the trigger.

I just spoke to another gentleman that wants a Rubicon loaded and willing to spend over $50,000 for it. All he wants is extreme purple and unable to buy it at this point. He said he hopes jeep reads these reviews because he's not waiting much longer but hates to go with another maker all together. I told him I know exactly how he feels but I'm actually consider walking away and not buying anything

These jeep games and Jeep colors have to stop. But unfortunately it's us consumers have to do it and we all love jeeps. If people were strong enough just for one year Jeep would change their ways. No dealer no matter how big could survive a year with no sales.

Walt A...I get it. I do. But I'm with the other folks.

I had the same dilemma last year when I bought Tank. I knew I wanted to ditch my Camaro but what was going to be the best time? I could do it in October and get Tank (which is what I consider the "true" Jeep color - IMHO) or wait until spring 2015 when PCP was supposed to be released. In the end, I ditched the Bee for Tankie and couldn't be happier.

Then XP became a reality. On a model I consider to be a poser if you are looking for a rock crawler type of Jeep. All blingy on the outside and weak underneath. Yes, you could order it and do an axel swap and a re-gear, but why should you have to?

Yes, we are worrying about and making up future realities that cause us grief. Sounds a lot like hope to me.

I too wish FCA would just listen to what its customers want. I can see them pulling the plug on XP because it didn't sell well, blaming it on the color instead of the limited edition they chose to singularly offer it on...

Regardless, I'll continue to hope...and cause myself endless worry and grief. All the while enjoying wheeling in the Jeep I have and love as if he were my child (since I have none and he's just about as expensive as having a REAL child).

As for the rest of us...we've waited this long, what's a few more months?

The issue with this is that many people are perfectly happy with the colors being offered. There's a big purple support group here, but I bet there are a lot more people on the site that wouldn't order purple even if it was available. It's a good idea, but you're right, it'll never happen.

If it's upsetting enough that you (or Tackle) can't get the color you want for the model you want, then either pick another color or choose to go with some other vehicle. Or wait it out and see if they decide to make Purple available on other models. If they don't, you're no worse off than you are today.

A big part of it is likely that almost zero sales are lost due to color - so likely not high on their priority list.

I wouldn't drive a purple Jeep if it was free (unless of course I could just pay to paint it...). But I am upset with myself that I missed the yellow window. Only one year for that color with four doors and a real engine. Grr.

I think we all have our preferences. And it seems FCA is following in Chrysler's footsteps: offering colors willy-nilly.

Checked out a new Camaro for my wife recently. The Z28 is only available in 5 colors... the base V6 is out with nine colors. Keep in mind a new Z starts out around 75k... but has less paint choices than the vehicle that costs a third less. So it's not just Jeep guys, plenty of manufacturers do this. There is even talk of a few special colors coming in the spring on the Z.... others might be discontinued.
Jeep cranks out all these Wranglers from one factory in Toledo... a factory that pretty much runs nonstop. Think of all the models, editions and packages that are available... when it's all said and done this year you will have had what? 12 or 13 colors, maybe more to choose from? That's amazing in my book. I don't know... but my jeep glass is full.

Seriously? That's the lamest thing I've heard yet on this site. Then go buy a jeep from Ford or Chevy.
"Hey Bill... what's up with the Purple Prius? I thought you were going to buy a Wrangler this year?"
Yeah I was... but they refused to offer a Rubicon in purple... so I bought this Prius instead, that'll teach 'em"
"Uh... ok"

Seajay - I know how they feel. I was really hoping they'd put XP on the Rubi or HR. The wife and I had a good discussion about waiting to see if FCA would put XP on anything else. It was a hard decision to pull the trigger in the Hydro. At some point FCA is going to say they're coming out with your favorite off the wall color and you're going to be where we all are. Don't mock, eventually you are the turtle........

Tackle, if you really want a Rubicon, then just get one. If you're doing any amount of "wheeling", a Rubicon is your best choice and you won't be satisfied with a lesser model. I know it's aggravating, but there has to be a color other than XP you could live with.

IMO, most people buy a Rubicon for the tremendous off-road ability and/or status of the vehicle. Color is important, but it's usually a secondary consideration.

If you HAVE TO HAVE XP and color is your primary consideration, not off-roading, then get it on what it's available on. There's no guarantee XP will be expanded to other models. By ordering it, you'd be able to have it with the exact combination of options you like. You can always buy mods and tinker with the look of the Jeep with the money you save by not buying a Rubicon.

Just my two cents.

I can feel Tackle's pain. We really wanted the XP! Yeah trading the 14 in now made sense and we bit the bullet and went with our 2nd choice, but some folks really want the uniqueness...

I can understand that and would be right there with you if there were any indication of opening the model selection for the color.

We've got to stop the hating and give a little understanding. Think if it was your favorite off the wall color and how yuo'd feel after the limitation to a feeble mall crawler.......
