re: 2016 Wrangler JK Information Thread

The pain is real. I have wanted purple forever - the only other two colors I have even liked were Mango Tango & Anvil but had my heart set on the purple. Almost didn't get one when I found out it would not be available on a Rubicon but my husband finally talked me into getting it. I plan to have it for quite a while as it is the color I have been waiting for so will just do some mods as money becomes available (and we have a Rubicon already). I am just hoping to not regret the purchase. There was one point last year I got tired of waiting & drove to buy a purple pickup instead but it was sold by the time we got there. So yes, this is important to some of us.
And now reading some of these posts I really hope I don't regret my purchase - all we have ever had was a pick up truck & a Rubicon but we go mudding - not so much rock crawling so hopefully this one will work for me.

I am gonna hold out for Hypergreen and hope it is offered on the model I want...hope they don't save it for a Special Edition...like the dreaded DRAGON Edition...though 2016 is the Year of the Monkey...maybe they will bring out a surprise Banana Yellow that people will go, well, bananas over....then I just need Dr. Shockla to hook me up with a monkey...but one without any martial arts lessons...drive Monkey drive!

Lol! The Dragon is STILL listed as a special edition on the Jeep website. It did not go over well. :P

I can understand that and would be right there with you if there were any indication of opening the model selection for the color.

We've got to stop the hating and give a little understanding. Think if it was your favorite off the wall color and how yuo'd feel after the limitation to a feeble mall crawler.......

Feeble mall crawler? That is a bit melodramatic. A buddy of mine has a stock 4 cyl tj and does some awesome things with it. I am sure the back country will be able to equal that and more.

I am on my 14th Wrangler and was a service manager for Chrysler for 15 years. I can honestly say the XP is and never would be my cup of tea on a Jeep but that is what I love about Jeeps. Everyone can build their vision and wants.

Now my 2 cents are, if you really, really wanted XP passionately it wouldn't matter what model it came in (unless it was something unremovable) because that is the great thing about Jeeps. You want a Rubicon? Order the Back Country, swap in a Pro 44 front, factory Rubi transfer case, dome hood and you are good to go. All a Rubicon is, is bolt on parts. It's like buying land. Sometimes you don't care for the house but the land it's on is awesome. Cause you can change the house but you can't change the view. In my expedition off-roading experience the first thing I dropped on my JKs were the front thin walled 44s and upgraded to Pro 44, so you would be ahead of the game. And yes I have seen plenty of "mall crawlers" Rubicons on just 35s that have never seen dirt and the housings bent on the alignment, so the Rubi is not the Bees Knees from the factory. It even needs tweaking.

Point is if you truly want XP, grab it and build it better than a Rubi. Especially, if you are going to spend $50k. Just my 2 cents

re: 2016 Wrangler JK Information Thread

Today I guess I realized that For the money I would like to order what I want to buy but if not available why would I want to buy a brand new Jeep anyway?

Really, I could get a slightly used one like a year or two old with very few miles on it, still with the better warranty, plus most likely a butt load of mods on it alReady and save a lot of cash. Keep the money in my pocket instead of Jeeps huge pockets.

Take a real look, been watching the used Wranglers out there on Craigslist and eBay for awhile now and I gotta tell ya it's becoming a buyers market anymore not a sellers market. There are used Wranglers that have been listed over a year and are still for sale.
Although still decent, Prices are coming down from where they were a couple years ago in the used market. Older ones now are getting way high.
Fiat has flooded the market with these things since the take over raking it in and getting greedier by the second. Look at ALL the price increases they've stuck in throughout.
They don't give a Crap about our best interests but only their own.

Hmmm, with the money I can save maybe I'll look into that new motorcycle I want as well as a very new jeep. I could be happier with the color choices out there.
Hmmm...

BYW Bob, your story about suprising your wife on anniversary day is a classic To say the least! Good on ya!

After googling Night Sky Package it appears some dealers have some on the lots up here in Canada. From first glance they appear to be the Black Bear version for Canada. Appearance wise at least.

In the auto industry, colors are decided like 5 years in advance. And the colors chosen, are driven by color trends in the fashion world. Think of that scene in The Devil Wears Prada (www.youtube.com/watch?v=vL-KQij0I8I), "You think you are exempt from the fashion industry...".

There is also the reality that there can only be 9 colors available at any one time. To add XP, means something else can't be offered (and that pisses off that other person). So, Jeep rotates thru some colors. Adds this, drops that. Purple, hypergreen, sarge green, will all get their time in the rotation, and then poof, gone.

Limiting it to "9" colors is probably like the reason why the guys on Spinal Tap had guitars that went up to a max of "11" instead of "10"....

Its a limit as to any one point in time, not per MY.

I would guess they have only 9 robot painters working in Toledo, or something like that. The robot's union prevents them from hiring any more painter robots.

Would you really want to piss this dude off?
