In my view, if it's not a true convertible it's not a Wrangler. Good Job Chrysler you ruined the Wrangler.
It sounds like you might be getting ahead of yourself and a bit dramatic with "ruined the Wrangler."

Look back over the last thirty years or so and you might find more than a few instances where "Many places are reporting..." that which turned out to be nonsense.

Love the wrangler, but boy if that post was from Milous I would be shorting a ton of Chrysler Fiat Stock right now, because that would be one of the dumbest moves in automotive history as I would say 80% of wranglers are sold because they are an SUV with a soft top. (Can say whatever you want about off road prowess, but that doesn't move them for the masses)

Exactly, and there are many sites reporting this now so there is reason to worry. Too many to sites to list them all. Here is one to give you an idea.

From what I've read, the move to a fixed top isn't an FCA move. The standards for the IIHS saftey ratings have increase and apprently FCA can't design a removable top that would pass the standards. I don't recall where I heard that from, but that's what I've heard.

That's what I understand as well. Regardless, the true soft top is as much a defining characteristic of the Wrangler as the 7 slot grill and solid axles. It is what makes Wrangler a Wrangler.

Whatever the reason for it, I won't buy one.

Please don't allow yourself to get aggravated by a poorly written story with no fact base but one that is heavily invested in words such as "likely...hint...possible...speculate...speculatio n...might...suggest...indicate...possibility...cou ld..."

But really, how much credence does an article stating "This would satisfy the likes of Mopar and aftermarket suppliers selling modifications to keep the road clearance sufficiently high enough for a variety of options" deserve? Is anyone to believe that FCA has any interest whatsoever in satisfying aftermarket companies with whom they compete for business?"

All I know (at this time) is that the new Wrangler will offer a power-retractable top...

For those considering the Alpine sound system I found this video by some design engineer impressive.
