I'll bet with all the high interest this concept's been receiving some modified incarnation may eventually be introduced either for the JK or more likely the upcoming JL. One can hope at the very least in the not so distant future

I think the best we can hope for, is the "factory" upfit being offered as a regular option. The question becomes just how many people would actually fork over the additional $10K?

Without the upfit, IMHO, the Red Rock is too close to a red Hard Rock to warrant a separate production model.

Thanks Walt! An up fitter recommended Mopar based factory supported package may not be such a bad idea if it's ultimately cost effective or can assist those with less time or knowledge to invest and research what's best for their Jeeps.

Separate question, we just hit the 1000 mile mark on our 1st ever owned 2016 JKUR Hard Rock purchased back in November with mainly local on pavement driving accrued thus far. When is it recommended to bring her in for the first oil/filter change, etc. at our local dealer's service center? They like to push all kinds of service on our 2012 Grand Cherokee Laredo X, so trying to avoid being taken advantage of as we start servicing our new Wrangler. Thank you

Your Wrangler will tell you, on the dash display, when an oil change has to be done. That's typically good enough, unless you doing something extreme. For me, that indication happened when it was just over 3K miles and just under 1 year old.

Thank you that's makes sense! I thought for some reason a 1st 1000 mile initial visit was warranted. This is great, thank you, anything to avoid the dealer's overzealous service recommendations is greatly appreciated

2016 Wrangler Information Thread

I've been lurking for years and I am finally ready to order a '16 unlimited Sport S.

I am getting 2 quotes. One from a local dealer and 1 from a mega-dealer about 4 hours away.

From what I have seen so far, I think the local dealer will be about $500 more.

While I want a great price, I am nervous about picking up a car 4 hours away in case I have problems.

How much would you have to save to go with a long distance dealer?

No way I'd travel 4 hrs away for 500... just not worth it to me. Buy from your local dealer and get a good rapport going with them. Btw... have you asked the local guy if they can match that price? Never hurts to ask. Good luck.

One other question. My wife loved tank. I told her it was gone for this year. I heard some rumblings it may come back. Anyone know the odds on that?

I drove 3hrs to save about $1000. Dealers in S Florida seemed like they could not care less if they sold a vehicle and that was bigger issue for me than the savings.
