As far as when: The order guide revision would come out just a bit before allocation for August opens (toward the end of the first week or beginning of the second week of the month) and that would be the indication of whether it will be avail to order in August. If not it would be September. Milous will update if/when that happens.

As to whether you can start talking about ordering I would say start now. It will open soon and better to have the nonsense out of the way and then all you have to do is tell the dealer you go with you plan to order granite which should open in the next month or so.

No plans for a replacement as far as I know.

I order a 2016 Sport Unlimited on 7/13. From what I've read here, I should expect to have it late Sept early Oct. I know things vary from year to year. But would that estimate be consistent with prior years orders.

I had a 2013 but it got totaled on 6/10 by a drunk. Really miss it. No one waves at ya in a 2000 Saturn and ya can't put the top down.

BTW - when I ordered the 2016 Jeep. I was told by the sales person 5-8 weeks from order time I should have my Jeep. (Northern NJ)

I registered for this forum because this post is amazingly helpful.
I just put a deposit down for my Jeep order.

I'm going simple:
2016 Jeep Wrangler 2dr.
Black
Automatic
Hard Top
A/C
3.73 axle ratio.

Now to troll around these forums...

Dual top question. I am getting ready to order my 2016 jeep and considering the 2 tops. Is there any way to leave the soft on all the time under the hard top. I know some people say there is a hard top lifter that you can attach to inside roof of garage and just pull under it and take it off. I would like to do that and just pull up the soft top then. If this is not possible how hard is it to put the soft top on every time. Thanks

When ordering the dual top option, the soft top is folded down inside the vehicle, with the hard top installed. It comes wrapped TIGHTLY in a vinyl cover from the factory. The factory recommends removing the soft top from under the hard top as soon as possible to prevent wear from vibrations, etc. See page 192 of the 2015 owner's manual:

Quote:
DUAL TOP — TWO-DOOR MODELS — IF
EQUIPPED
If your vehicle is equipped with a Dual Top, you must
remove one of the tops from the vehicle. If the soft top
is removed, the pivot brackets must also be removed
from the sport bar. The soft top was installed at the
factory for shipping purposes only. The soft top and the
hard top are to be used independently. Removal is
mandatory to prevent any possible wear and tear on the
soft top. Your vehicle warranty will not cover damage
resulting from both tops remaining on the vehicle at the
same time for extended periods of time.
When you remove the hard top and install the soft top, you will find it almost impossible to fold down the soft top in as tightly wrapped a position as it was from the factory.

In any event, the factory recommends having only one top installed at a time to prevent wear.

2016 430N - FWP $1,064 MSRP $1,195

2015 730N - FWP $1,687 MSRP $1,895
What you forgetting about is the Connectivity Package.

For 2015, as you mention, the 430N has an MSRP of $1,145. Want Bluetooth and that other stuff too? You need to add the Connectivity Package which is $595. So, combined, its $1,740.

The 730N is $1,895, and that includes the Bluetooth and stuff.

So, its more like $1,895 vs. $1,740. Which to me is not all that exorbitant of a price difference.

Oh, you got the 730N but still want the (unrelated) individual tire pressure readout on the EVIC? With the 730N, what's left of the Connectivity Package drops in price from $595 to $245.

Thanks Mabar. Is it hard to install the soft top once the hard top is off? How hard is it to pull soft top up with one person? Does it take long to pull up and fasten for driving?

Mabar all I need now is a pic of a rubicon with hyper-green paint and a release date of that color. Can anyone use paint to copy and paste this new color on a rubicon? This is way over my head. Thanks

Once the hard top is off (two person job), one person can install the soft top. The first time soft top installation is time consuming. Be sure to do it on a warm day in the sun. The sun softens the soft top material and makes it MUCH easier to install the first time.

After the first time installation, it is a relatively easy, one person job to lower and or raise the soft top and only takes a couple of minutes each time.

Tip: DO NOT use paper towels or Windex type stuff to clean the soft top windows. Paper towels will scratch the windows. A soft, clean wet rag with water works well. NOTHING abrasive in the soft top windows! NEVER use a dry rag. Also, after the windows are clean, I use Lemon Pledge furniture polish with another clean rag. Works well and helps prevent dust from sticking to the plastic windows.

My point though was towards the initial question from the guy I replied to. He mentioned about that maybe they would raise the price of the 430N to 730N levels. They haven't. The price of the 430N is really not much different for 2016 than it was for 2015.

Granted that you still need to purchase the connectivity group to get UConnect (and it also includes the EVIC stuff), but that's no different than it was in 2015.

Pat or Milous,
I had a dealer tell me they couldn't sell for less than 1% below invoice because they could lose their ability to sell to Chrysler Affiliate members.
I'm sure there is no truth to this but just want to verify.
Thanks
