re: 2016 Wrangler JK Information Thread

Well, I'm depressed. I have emailed 7 different dealers with what I want in a 2016 wrangler and three have come back to me and said, that I must come in so thy know I'm real. They all require a noon refundable deposit of $1,500 and they will not negotiate. MSRP is the only price they will take, nothing less. Maybe I won't be getting a new jeep after all.

Keep trying. Even if you have to drive a few hours to take delivery, keep reaching out. These dealers responding to you obviously don't want to earn your business.

Where are you located? When I used to live in TX, I found a dealer that was willing to give me 2% below invoice with no haggling and worked the *entire deal* over the phone with me - including a trade that I had - so that my picking up of the Jeep was a ~30 minute ordeal. Not a single bit of funny business, and I knew down to the dollar amount paid and monthly payment wise what I was looking at before I got there. I had to drive 2.5 hours to get it... but I showed up, they test drove my trade, I test drove the Jeep (that was immaculate and waiting out front for me to look at), we signed, and I was out of there. It was a record breaker for me in terms of time spent in a dealership.

You can find these dealers, just keep looking and have faith.

I'd recommend you have a look into joining Tread Lightly for $100 and get this:

Eligibility to receive the Affiliate Rewards Program Preferred Price (1% below factory invoice) on the purchase or lease of most new Chrysler, Jeep, Ram, Dodge, SRT and FIAT vehicles. The Preferred Price – combined with current incentives – can be up to thousands of dollars off the Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP).

Extra bonus, that $100 is a charitable donation and thus tax exempt. Can't beat that.

don't give up that easy. wait and see what the other dealers say. if none offer better than msrp, then go talk to them in person. they may be more likely to deal if they have you in the building. I would think you could get invoice with little effort

I emailed about 20 dealers with my exact wishes. I received one quote for $500 below invoice. I took that quote and took another $500 off and sent it to the closer dealer to where I wanted to purchase. I thought kid them the quote was from a city 2 hours away so well worth the drive so they agreed to match it. So, $1000 below invoice over email with a $1,000 deposit because I ordered half doors.

The Lange hoist-a-top really is great. It makes top removal so easy. I do not even need a soft top. Just check the forecast and take it off for the whole weekend. You can save about a hundred bucks if you get the basic one and buy the electric hoist at harbor freight, that's what I did. The 440lb one is perfect. The top is less than 200lb.uploadfromtaptalk1437873845083.jpguploadfromtaptalk1437873902356.jpg

I just got back from my first round of getting quotes in person, and I will get a few more tomorrow. One dealership quoted 1600 (4.7%) under invoice and another quoted 1750 (5.1%) under which was less than employee pricing. The others have not been anywhere near those two. It didn't take long; I was at each dealership less than 30 minutes. My tactic was to be polite but firm that I was not ordering today, that I was getting quotes from multiple dealers, and that I would not share quotes between dealers. I chose not to share for two specific reasons. First, I thought that if they did not know the competition it would force them to give me their lowest price the first time. Second, I do not want to bounce back and forth between dealers multiple times for them to beat each others quotes. If you have any questions about that method that has worked for me so far, send me a PM.
