I got 3.7% under FWP on my order today not counting the $500 "golden ticket." That puts it at 4.8%... There are certainly dealers you can work with.
My method- I'd e-mailed a dealer up in Boulder, CO about an AEV Jeep a while back, but decided against it. Their rep contacted me the other day and I said "what'd be my price on a 2016 with these options..." When he got back to me, even though it was more than 1% under FWP, I said I can give him an Affiliates number if that could somehow sweeten the deal. Then I got a better offer that dipped into his holdback.
I took that offer to the AutoNation Jeep dealer close to me and they said they'd match it. I didn't have time that day, so I told them I'd be back. I went back a week later (today) with my affiliates number, the e-mail from the competition in Boulder, the order guide info with everything I wanted marked and my $500 off coupon. They had issues figuring out how to order a 2016, and so their prices didn't match the order guide but they came up with a number close to what I thought I was going to sign on to and they decided for some reason to say "I'll even give you $500 off that." Then I said "plus this $500 off coupon."... So long story short, I'm going to pay about $42,700 before taxes and license fees ($46,xxx after) for this Jeep:
JKJS74 - Unlimited Rubicon
24J - Hard Rock
DGJ - Auto Trans
XBM - Remote Start
DM8 - 4.10 Axle
AEM - Dual Top Group
RHB - 430N
HAB - A/C w/ auto temp
CJ1 - Supplemental front seat side airbags
Destination - $995 included in the pricing.
It seemed like a pretty killer deal considering the ones on the lot they typically can sell for MSRP/sticker...
Now to go pay me some money to back the site and start tracking my order.
Advice I'd give- go in there and let them know you know what you're talking about without being nasty. A lot of things I knew as fact from seeing them here I referred to as "Internet rumors" until it got to the point where the Sales Manager didn't think he could order 2016s yet. Then I told him that I was pretty sure the allocation opened up on the 8th of July, and I was well aware and quite content that I wouldn't get the car 'til Oct or so... By the end the sales manager and some guy there from Chrysler corporate were saying I should work there...
