Just a general comment - I order my Wrangler Unlimited Sport Back in July. I've been asking my dealer for info about the order since about 4 weeks after the order. Basic info like Vin #, estimated build date. The bottom line is he keeps saying "no info from Jeep". I've gotten no information about my order from the dealer since I order it. About 2 weeks ago I sent one email to Jeep from the contact us link on Jeeps site. and within 24 hours I got a response saying:

1) all parts are in
2) your vin # is -----
3) estimated build start date is 8/31/15
4) Please check back on 9/7 and we should have another estimate on when you'll be ready with QA and a ship date.

Bottom line: Once the order is placed, discussing anything with the dealer about status is a waist of time. Go right to the top - Jeep.

In reference to the $25K and $40K amounts. I ordered my wrangler early July. Late July I also purchased a Patriot from the same dealer/sales person for my wife. All totaled I dropped about $65K at the same dealer. None of that has made info from the dealer available. Go directly to Jeep.

My experience was quite a bit different.

I would stop by the dealership, and say "hi" to my salesman. He was able to easily pull up a list of all the vehicles they had on order (including both my Rubicon X and the Charger R/T... "dropping" far more than you). When he hovered his mouse over each of them, a popup showed its current stats.

BTW, this status was far better than that provided by Jeep. Jeep was still claiming my Rubicon was at the factory waiting to be shipped, as I was driving it home from the dealer.

Another dumb question. Looking at mods now that I'm in D1 status and eagerly anticipating delivery. Some simple stuff like door sills and covers. Do you think my '16 will be able to have the stuff for the 07-15 JK still fit it? I know it's probably yes but don't wanna blow money on stuff I gotta return and wait longer to get.

Ppl obviously misunderstood my "$40k" comment. I was simply stating that purchasing a car that expensive, or ANY for that matter should be able to be tracked... Shit, you can track a $1 pair of socks on Amazon. You used to be able to track your jeep and now you can't. Just saying I as a customer think that is ridiculous. We need to stop making excuses for large companies. As much as I love Jeep, doesn't mean wanting to track my jeep makes me entitled or anything of the sort. A customer should be able to do so.

EDIT: this was more in reference to the previous comments made, not yours mate(:

Unless they tie the lift to other options, I can't see this costing more than $1,500. The reason is by doing the lift at the factory, there are no replaced parts. It's rather minimal amount of added work to put these in during assembly and there is minimal extra cost in parts. The tires will cost more and the lift kit will add cost, but the shocks, springs, etc will mostly cost what the rubicon's shocks, springs, etc; cost.

That said, if they do what detroit does, they will tie this to the hard rock option, etc and make it cost a fortune by making you get crap you don't want. That's why seat warmers cost $2500. You need to get all of the power crap that will break and you don't want.

I'm with you 100% on that. This really should be just like placing an Amazon order. It's really ridiculous that the tracking site just never came back up. What adds to the frustration is that so many people have different experiences with this. I'm in northern New Jersey. The dealerships are sizable. We have 3 in my county.

I tried to capture that in the photos. Also, while I was taking pictures, I tried to make sure the image was as close as possible to what my eye was seeing. Anyway, for what it's worth, here are the results.
Thank you very much Old Blue - great idea and great execution - It looks awesome!!!!

My source was a dealership owner that was at the FCA Dealer Convention out in Vegas last weekend. He said the Recon was a 2016, would be a special edition and figured it would be really limited in quantity and difficult to get (he's a small town dealer, often gets the leftovers from big dealers).

I've heard similar news from a couple other people that were also at the show in Vegas

I will work on a better/larger sample and hopefully get it posted by good daylight time tomorrow.

Oh and I just told Mrs I need to find a piece of metal I can paint and clear coat for a better look and she said "you have a problem" I fully agreed.
We all do "have a problem" - cheers
