Curious to get your thoughts on the color. Was thinking for over the past 5 months that I was going to get Granite Crystal, but then saw Rhino on a dealer lot one night right before I ordered and thought "that looks cool".

Went back during the next day to see if it showed off its blue more clearly under direct sunlight. It did (in a subtle sort of way) so made decision fairly easy. My 3 kids in Junior High and High School all agreed too..."Get Rhino!"

It's definitely one of those chameleon type colors that changes with different lighting. It can go from looking almost Black with no lighting, to a Matte Grayish Navy Blue or almost Charcoal Gray color with different lighting. Not a popular color right now on the streets, but noticed on MOTS that a small majority of the Wrangler orders recently are for Rhino too.

First mod will be rock sliders that double as side steps that either fit over the stock rubi-rails or cover up the pinch seam entirely with the rubi-rails removed. How about you?

Getting crossed eyed looking at all the web pics for rock sliders with step to consider...It'll be a touch decision
Thanks for the note. I was previously considering a black JK at first. My starting point was a black, super-basic no-options 2-door Rubicon. I couldn't find anything like that on any dealer lots so when I started thinking about a factory order, black was the only color I considered until I saw Rhino. I think it's a classy, subtle color that will hold up to style fads over time. In 20 years I think it will still look relevant and interesting when the metallic or bright colors don't. Firecracker red is also a great color and I think will look great in the future but it's not my style.

Regarding mods, I'm mostly thinking about practical additions. Gas struts for the hood, Star Fabricating Smart Door Stops, and a Homelink garage door mirror are first on my list. I'm also interested in a secure storage box. This vehicle won't be my daily driver or a rock crawler so I won't be thinking about a lift or bigger tires for now. I want to drop the top, load the girl, the dog, the camping gear, and head for the mountains or the islands. I'm really looking forward to this toy.

Appreciate the feedback on the Rhino color. I agree with what you're saying. It's unique and has some character to it so it will stand out for a while. Your mods sounds good.

Heading to the mountains and/or beach in the JK will be sweet. I'm in IL so nothing as scenic as your surroundings but will take it camping, fishing, hunting, off-roading and cruising around town with the family. Mine will mainly be a daily driver for me driving to the office (downtown Chicago) and on sales calls a couple days a week and then will let my 16 yr old son take it out as a reward for keeping his grades up while playing sports.

My first car (it was my dad's car actually) was a very used 1979 CJ7 with 160K miles that he bought when I turned 15 that was sorta a shade darker than Royal Blue I guess, so this will bring back memories as I pass the Jeep baton onto my son and daughters like my dad did with me and my sisters back in the late 80s/early 90s.

My first car was a slightly used Black 1989 Wrangler that was not very well built (more of a semi-lemon)...I drove both Jeeps a ton until they either gave up on me or gave me enough problems they weren't worth keeping. Hoping they're built better nowadays! Seems like they are.

I'm sure you'll make lots of great new memories with your new ride. I like how you equipped it with all the cool factory options.

I keep hitting refresh on the tracking page & it seems like everyone else's vehicles are being produced and I'm stuck in D1.
I hope they haven't run out oh hypergreen paint!

I'm seeing status changes consistent with what Milous told me to expect so I haven't been too worried about it. I'm a patient person and I took a while to order so I can wait a bit longer for the factory to build my Jeep.

I'm generally patient, too. I have been researching a JK order for nearly a year. I was waiting to place an order for a 2017 until an uninsured driver plowed into me & totaled my car. So now I'm driving a rental car (aka: the hamster) and everyday I feel unsafe & not happy in this vehicle.
I know in the end it will be worth it, but until then I thought I could find some sympathy here.

You will find that the delivery time is pretty good on Wranglers, as compared to other models. Depending on your location, the order to build is about a month, quite reasonable IMO...

Looks like my new JKU Rubicon left the plant on a truck this morning....so excited! Order was placed on 6/2, so I also agree that a month looks to be pretty accurate wait time right now.

re: 2016 Wrangler JK Waiting Room

My little Jeep was built today, 17 days after I placed the order. That was faster than I expected. Hopefully it will head out on a rail car before the holiday. My dealer (Dave Smith Motors, Kellogg, Idaho) said the rail transit time from Toledo to the distribution yard in Portland, OR can often be up to three weeks. According to MOTS the ETA at the dealer is 7/17 - 7/23 so the dealer's experience might be a little slower than what the factory estimates. In any case, it's nice to know it's built and soon to be headed west.

For anyone trying to use this data to estimate their Jeep's build time I ordered a 2 door Rubicon in Rhino with manual transmission, convenience package, tow package, and Alpine 9 speaker audio.

re: 2016 Wrangler JK Waiting Room

The factory is cranking out Wrangler orders as of late. Factory order for my new Rhinocon JKU was placed on 6/11 and is expected to be shipped between 7/4 and 7/10 according to MOTS. That's less than a month worst case from order date to my dealer's door. Really surprised by how quick this was! Planning my trip to Koons within the next week to 2 weeks
