re: 2016 Wrangler JK Waiting Room

Well... I'm experiencing a very odd situation with my first ever Jeep purchase.

Ordered on 10/24 through the dealer (with a $500 deposit) and to date have still not received a VIN. After religiously checking on status each week, bugging my dealer and Jeep Chat, on 11/23 I found out somehow it was overlooked that my Jeep was placed as dealer stock and not a sold order.

Got upset, talked to the regional FCA guy and was even cc'd on some emails with involved pertinent and capable parties who could potentially expedite the change in status.

Here we are, 11/30 and I've just left the dealership, and was basically told that Jeep will "get to it when they get to it." Was told I'm an anomaly because of a manual trans request on the build.

Currently they can't give me a VIN, an ETA or even a positive word that I'm moving forward in the queue.

I would pull my deposit and go to another dealer, but after looking around I found that I'm actually receiving invoice pricing. To cut ties with the first dealer now and start the process with a new dealer could potentially put me even further away from driving off with my Jeep, and wouldn't benefit me financially in any way.

For now I'm pouting in a pile of Teraflex packages just waiting to be opened and put on my new Jeep.

5 weeks and counting awaiting D1 status. Maybe I'll set a record in the waiting room?

Personally, I would go elsewhere. Your business means nothing to them and the manual transmission comment is BS.

Hoping to be joining the ranks of the waiting room very soon. Looking to order my first jeep within the next couple weeks. All of the information here has been very helpful. Thanks to all.

x2 - plus I'd recommend joining Tread Lightly @ $100 level, this gives you access to Chrysler Affiliate pricing which guarantees you 1% below invoice as a starting point, just keep in mind you have to be a member for 30 days before your control number is valid, so join - wait a week or so - then go order, let them know you'll have the # and it will be valid at deal closing.

X3 based on your whole story the emails you are being "cc'd" on are likely a rouse to keep you quiet. While ordering elsewhere might delay you, not ordering elsewhere rewards what an old friend of mine would call their felonious scumbagotry.

re: 2016 Wrangler JK Waiting Room

Thanks for the input everyone. I'm anxiously waiting for the sales departments to open up down here in Texas so I can call around. Got a few PM leads last night.

Question on Tread Lightly - if I join right now, will they make me present the control number (the one that is mailed USPS) before they accept the order with affiliate discount, or since the numbers are finalized at time of possession will I be okay if I join TL and order Jeep today?

The 30 day rule is in the literature but many have used it at negotiation and then gave the control number when deal finalized which is usually long after 30days. You will usually have the number in about a week anyway.

re: 2016 Wrangler JK Waiting Room

Agree with Yoodie. I told my sales guy that I would have a valid control # and it was calculated into the deal from the beginning. Now if I'd not had that valid number when it came time to close the deal I'm sure they'd have yanked it out. This is why I suggested joining now and then delaying a little bit before setting up a new deal, to give time for you to get the packet from TL, once you've got that you can get your control # on-line in about 5 minutes, print out the email with the number and you're good to go.

Join now. They didn't require my Tread Lightly codes until I picked my Jeep up at the dealership, then I just gave them the letter I received from TL and they made a photocopy of it.....done deal.
