Yeah odd, my dealer called me yesterday and said it would be ready in about 2 weeks, said things are progressing quicker than expected. I emailed Chrysler Assistance today and they said the build will not start until the week of Sept 26.
Oh well, hopefully the dealer is correct

Would not be the first time they surprised us, and had the new models at dealers, on the date they told us would only be the start of assembly.

Unlikely, although they typically will run a small batch of new models the week prior to the "Job1" launch date

And yes after my love for AMCs I did purchase another extra vehicle...a 1969 AMC 390 Javelin. My brother did purchase a 1970 AMX at some point as well as own a 1972 Javelin that I drove and won the AM DRAG CAR Nationals at Great Lakes Dragaway back in the day.

I still regret I only got the 258 six for my Gremlin, which was a good Jeep engine; and not the 304 V-8. Later on my brother and I transplanted a AMC 401 that was also a Jeep engine into a Gremlin.

My current car is a 2001 Chrysler Sebring convertible so I guess I have always owned third cousins of THE JEEP!

The only other car I ever ordered was a 1976 Plymouth Volare Road Runner in silver metallic...another third cousin of THE JEEP!

Just looked it up and surprisingly your 2 door Jeep will be shorter than your 1974 Gremlin was!

Jeep Dimensions
Wheelbase 2-door: 95.4 in
Length 2-door: 164.3 in

Gremlin Dimensions
Wheelbase 96 in
Length 170.3 in

Granted, the Jeep will be a bit wider than the Gremlin and significantly heavier.

I wouldn't mind having a Gremlin at all... would look good sitting next to my Sport.

re: 2017 Wrangler JK Information Thread

In the link below, see the 2014 Moab Easter Jeep Safari Concepts from a Motor Trend article. Note the Cherokee concept in yellow, which could be Acid Yellow. I think this is possible since XPurple was shown also as a concept on a Wrangler in 2014, only to be finally available in 2016/17. The yellow looks deeper or washed out depending on the sun angle of any of the pictures. The Cherokee also shows a dual opening roof similar to what is on the current Renegade and may be similar to the 2018 Wrangler.

I saw the Chief and Gobi colors on a dealership's office brochure. For me, the small Chief (blue) sample wasn't quite the hue I'd hoped for. Gobi was next to Mohave Sand (MS no longer on Wrangler but still a 2017 Jeep color on another model). Gobi looked a shade or so lighter than Mojave Sand. Acid Yellow wasn't pictured.

That's a cool green GX with the gold stripe. So many nice green colors that manufacturers could offer but usually instead offer an awful green, then wonder why it doesn't sell. Jeep Green of several years ago was my favorite on a Wrangler. By the way my Dad had a, what we called, turd brown Gremlin (not an X) with a white stripe. My lucky brother got to drive that 3 speed with no syncros.
