Wow lots of info today. You think the hard rock replacement will be in a similar price point or more toward the 60k Red Rock?

This must be a record for the amount of special editions in one model year?
Right there with you! I had the same idea about ordering around March. Now I'm going to obsess over whether I might be missing out on the current Hard Rock or lucking out with the replacement. Hoping we'll be able to get an idea of what the changes will be...not sure I'd be able to bump my timeline up so far.

First, awesome news about all of the special editions that will be offered. That's a pretty sweet selection.

Second, lame about the Hard Rock. And even lamer about what color options I have right now to order from. Basically, we have the color pallete of the free box of crayolas that little kids get at a restaurant... And that might be generous.

Oh well, cheers to the "new" version!

While I don't have any specifics on the changes, I'll reveal the name in the not too distant future, which *might* give a clue as to what it might consist of. Since it's replacing the HR, I doubt it will have less features or capability...

Might this be attributed to excess inventory that needs to go bye bye???

Nope, most of the special models are well into next year. They want to keep the momentum up for the entire model year.

re: 2017 Wrangler JK Information Thread

Any guestimates on the delivery dates for orders which can be placed next week when the order bank opens on 9/12?

I was going to place an order tomorrow for a HR.

Thanks.

I wonder if this is to get us acquainted with (use to) the name of what will be the Hard Rock replacement in the new JL?

PS: You might want to add a "production ends" to the Hard Rock line in post 1.

re: 2017 Wrangler JK Information Thread

My ordered 2016 Wrangler Unlimited Sport (Firecracker Red) arrived with over a dozen paint defects caused by factory FOD underneath the clear coat, the base coat, along with a solvent pop on the hood with a metal shaving baked in, along with hard top damages (coating inconsistencies, scratches, coating blotches, scrapes), missed paint on the top of a hinge, a buffed section on the door by factory QA that was never followed up on and polished, the list goes on. It requires a full re-paint of all doors and body panels with exception of the swing gate and a replacement hard top per the service shop at the dealer.

Anyways, the dealer is making right on it and said they will order me a 2017 identical build, identical deal, and handle everything with FCA on my behalf.

Here was my build:

Wrangler Unlimited Sport 4x4 (JKJM74)
Customer Preferred Package 24S (24S)
3.6L V6 24V VVT Engine (ERB)
5-speed Auto W5A580 Transmission (DGJ)
Firecracker Red C/C (PRC)
Monotone Paint (APA)
Cloth Seats w/ Adj Head Restraints (*A7)
Black (-X9)
Sirius Satellite Radio (RSC)
Dual Top Group (AEM)
Tubular Side Steps (MRK)
Max Tow Package (AHQ)
Supplemental Front Seat Side Air Bags (CJ1)
Connectivity Group (AAJ)
Easy Order (5N6)
Zone
Sales Tracking

A lot of people said to get Alpine but the factory speakers are good enough for me and I will just swap out the (2) in the sound bar with Kickers, and stuff the sound bar with padding. I'm not picky with vehicle stereo systems, I've been driving a Civic with stock speakers for ~ 15 years. I also require the use of the under-floor cargo space which I can't have a sub using. Just thought I would throw that out there ahead of time so I don't need to re-explain the Alpine vs Stock thing again.

The reason for my post is this - another forum member said that now that I will be getting a 2017, I should pay the $595 and get the LED lighting upgrade. I saw the light throwout with the Wrangler stock lights, and they do seem a bit weak even on high beam. Nothing too bad though and not weak enough to complain as an issue really, I'm used to my 15 yr old Civic anyways. To those who ordered 2017's, is the LED upgrade really worth the $595? Isn't that something I can always switch out later for likely way less especially once the OEM LED's are floating around on the market?

Thanks in advance

-Medic

Good suggestion. The HR has been so popular, seems they would bring it back for the JL, no idea if they will or not.

re: 2017 Wrangler JK Information Thread

I'm hoping the Hard Rock is going to carry into the JL, or at least something comparable with similar hood and bumpers.

I wonder if it could be the Trailhawk name replacing the Hard Rock? Design language seems to be similar and the Trailhawk name seems to have a favorable rep. They're using it on other lines aready, which might also make it easy to transition over to the JL.
