I just appreciate you trying. If you find it awesome, if not I am sure it will come to light(no pun intended) in time.

re: 2017 Wrangler JK Information Thread

For those wondering about the new colors, I may have an answer. I happened to be in the dealership to order a new Wrangler when a representative from Jeep was there, and I mentioned I wanted to order a new color but had a time limit on how late in the year I could order (I needed the Jeep here before winter).

I explained that I had to give up my beloved CJ5 Renegade (along with three other vehicles) to come up with the down payment for a new Wrangler, and I wanted it to be just right.

This person tried very hard for almost an hour to get me an answer. He called up his manager, who forwarded him on to his manager, who finally got somewhat of an answer. Here's what I got:

Apparently, all new colors are scheduled to be put into durability testing to check for cracks, peeling, color fastness, fading, and other defects in the first week of October. The colors that pass will be available to order by the end of October at the latest as long as they're not part of a special edition. Unfortunately, if they don't pass, they are quietly dropped from the option list completely.

He did confirm that Chief Blue is among the standard colors, not a special edition. No word on Acid Yellow or Gobi Brown. Xtreme Purple already passed testing last year, and will be among the new colors offered at the end of October. Sadly, my deadline was the first week of October, and I ended up ordering my second choice, Billet Silver, instead. I couldn't take a chance on waiting for a color that might not ever arrive, as he did mention he's seen several colors fail testing in the past.

I hope this has answered some people's questions. One other thing worth mentioning, I did sneak in the Cold Weather Group on a Sport S with a Manual, and it was only $895, far short of the $2,096 posted by Cars.com. Well worth it, especially for the heated seats and tire upgrade.

There is also a bracket listed, not sure if this would be required for a retro-fit. It's not clear if bulbs are included. A quick look shows that it could cost over $500 MSRP for lamps, bulbs and brackets. Some part numbers add up to less, not sure why.
Thanks Milous. Most of the aftermarket 10A/X/HR led fog lights require a bracket and some wire cutting. Was hoping the new factory models might be more plug and play. Bracket is not a big deal but always like to avoid cutting wires when possible. Don't spend too much time on it but in time if you can get the P/N I would appreciate it. The JW Speaker replacements and brackets are about $350 so that $500 MSRP for the MOPAR sounds right.

Been hanging around these parts for some time so probably time to pay for a membership. I get a coffee mug, toaster, or something . Appreciate you and AA quite a bit.

Can Milous or others confirm this?? Because honestly, 99.999999% of the time, he is SPOT ON with his information.

Any information that I have received at a dealership is either light years behind, or I am given the deer in the headlights look. My best dealership quote ever being "they are not going to change any of the colors this year"...

I don't remember AA posting that even the test run of Chief has been done yet. If true, that means it is still a long ways away.

Yeah I'm a big fan. I love that it changes color depending on the light. I'm putting on a 2.5in lift, fuel beast wheels, and the new Nitto Ridge Grapplers 35X12.5X17.
