Or, instead of throwing that money out the window, see what the Recon will bring.

The Recon will be a limited run and if its anything like my 2013 Rubicon 10th Anniversary model, it will be a special run with unique options never found on another production Jeep.

You're not alone jmayeux... I won't be ready to order until early spring myself. Unfortunately I was originally planning on ordering a Hard Rock... so now I'm betting on either one of the many special editions coming up or the new Recon. Heck... we might even get lucky and find a Hard Rock sitting on a dealers lot somewhere right? lol.

Yes, that would be worth waiting for a990. I'm just hoping the Recon price is right about where the HR price is right now.

re: 2017 Wrangler JK Information Thread

I have a question for you all. I ordered a 2017 with the premium leather and sound package, when I got my order confirmation it listed the price as $2,695. I just looked at my dealers website and they have my jeep listed as in transit (I'm pretty sure it's mine anyways) but on the window sticker the premium leather and sound package is listed as $2,000. Do you think this is a typo or are there different leather and sound packages?

Thanks for your help.

There are two packages, the "black" (actually gray) that's been around for a while, and the new-for-2017 "amaretto" one. I believe both are the same price.

Could your model have something standard, that gets subtracted off the package price? For example, its $2,695 on a Sport S, but only $2,000 on a Sahara.

I ordered the Sport S so I'm not sure what would get subtracted. I'm just a little nervous that it won't be what I ordered since there is a price difference. I have waited on this for almost two months and just don't want there to be any issues.

Thanks for the reply.

As I keep mentioning, we know that what Jeep calls "black" isn't even close to what Katzkin calls "black" (more like one of Katzkin's grays). IMHO, that's enough to raise my doubts about amaretto until I get to see it on a 2017.
Agreed, proceed with caution...

I just don't see them using the same terminology for something different.
The assumption its the same as the Red Rock... but I wouldn't bet a paycheck on it. Keep in mind they could substitute the material but not change the name of the color. I'm not aware of the contractual agreements Jeep has with Katzkin.

What comes to mind are the headlights - I was confident Jeep branded JW Speaker headlights were coming on the 2017s... but they switched suppliers and designs.

My Red Rock came from the factory with Jeep branded JW Speaker's...

This is my concern about waiting. I understand the Recon might have everything I want/need and more - BUT if the price is a lot more, that will be an issue. Hopefully we will get the details about the price and features of the Recon early enough that we can make the decision that it is ok to wait, or move forward with a HR. Thanks again all.

You can order a hard rock and not take delivery - make acceptance contingent on you need to know the details and pricing of the Recon before signing contracts and taking delivery. Make the dealer hold it in inventory with a signed agreement.

We're talking about a $50K commitment... use every tactic available.

If it isn't EXACTLY like you ordered, walk away. As disappointing as that may sound, you are better off waiting another two months than getting stuck with something you don't want.

A factory order is nothing more than a first right of refusal for the vehicle. You don't have to buy it any more than you have to buy one on the the lot. You can walk away for any reason. You may struggle to get your deposit back but that is a different matter entirely.

re: 2017 Wrangler JK Information Thread

Skimming what little info is here on the new special edition "Recon" I found it is replacing the Hard Rock, and may have a Hemi V8 with D60 axles? How much is known for sure and how much rumor?
