The diesel is out for the launch year of the JL, as much as any feature can be ruled out at this time.

Recon as a sort of "pre-gen" JL early release of what's to come to get people excited. Do keep in mind Jeep is not against single year model changes. Think 98 grand Cherokee limited sporting the 5.9!

Oh, and btw an '18 diesel JL would be the only reason I won't buy out my current '16 lease.

Oh well, that's the only one I found there.

I don't believe the Recon will have a Hemi... it was explained once it wouldn't meet regs.. something to do with the firewall. A Hemi conversion from the factory would well exceed the Wrangler's market position.. as it stands, it's taken many months to sell Red Rock's between the $60K- $90K price point.

I believe it will be a combination of Rubicon 10A, Red Rock and Mopar Parts..

This parts bin includes...
- 10A factory 2" lift..
- 10A BFG KM2s
- 10A heat reduction hood
- 10A bumpers
- Red Rock HD spare tire bracket
- Red Rock rock rails
- Mopar Katzkin Tuscany leather
- Mopar JW Speakers (Jeep branded)
- Mopar D60's... < this is a stretch, fingers crossed!

These are parts already designed, tested, can be procured and bolted on for the forecast production run of 7,500 units..

I can confirm the dark saddle interior is the same as the 2016. Just got my dark saddle yesterday.

I'd never heard that about the hemi, but it makes sense. I should say I was "dreaming" more than thinking a hemi would be in it.

Your idea sounds quite plausible. Many of those parts are on the concept. Maybe they also offer the white-ish gray paint color for the special edition to tie it to the concept more? (And stickers ). Do you think D60s push it closer to 50k before options? $50k+ seems to push it into a niche market.

Yeah I can't recall exactly where I saw that posted about the firewall.. I think it was an insider that knows the regs and specs. It came out when we were discussing the Red Rock MSRP and folks expecting a Hemi as part of the package.

The D60's are pricey... if they install those, expect to see a MSRP @ $55K.. perhaps plus some. I see stock Rubicon Hard Rock's now on Cars.com with MSRP's over $50K. That's loaded.

Of course, I've never paid over 1% below invoice.. including my 10A and Red Rock.

The key is.. Jeep locking out dealers from ordering.. and allowing us to place orders first. This levels the playing field.. I was able to leverage both my Jeeps due to that rollout policy.

Jeep is the first company I know of that's ever done that on special editions. And I'm brand loyal as a result of that customer strategy..

Can't ask for more IMO...

We know they are going to keep building the JK along side the JL for a time, your Magic 8-Ball see something of a bigger "Last" JK edition say this time next year?

I don't know about "bigger". It appears that the limited edition Recon will one of the models to pay tribute to the JK generation. The 2017 model year JK will end production on September 30, 2017. And the plot thickens...
