Anyone looked at swatches of Gobi next to Mojave Sand? Is Gobi just a little darker?
Will Gobi even be open in August? Or will Gobi be like Mojave, and doesn't open until 6 months later in the model year?

Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but Milous' use of the word initial suggests to me that those are the colors available at 2017 launch.

My choice is still purple if it can be ordered by October. Was really hoping for a bright orange or a nice bright yellow.
Wife thinks the purple looks gay so might end up with red unless we see a purple one prior to ordering and she likes it

Mojave Sand was on his list for 2016 too.

While it might turn out OK, I don't see Milous saying that... yet. I take Milous's use of the word "initial", to contrast with those yet unknown surprise colors that pop up later in the model year.

So purple is still on the table for all models in 2017? I'm trying to figure out if I need to look for a purple back country now or wait and order a '17 purple Sahara. Lol

Did you see Chief?
Was it blue?

Look at page 1 of this thread for color samples of gobi and chief. And yes, chief is blue.

Trust me, none of them were exactly dragsters.

I'm thinking about a Rubicon in "Chief". And after I got my mits on it, have the hardtop painted white. I like how the combo looks on the concept vehicle.

Chevette?... Not so much.
Isn't that the truth. In the late 70's early 80's Corvettes could barely do a 15 second quarter mile. Even the 1991 Corvette with the L98 only put out 250 hp from a 5.7 liter V8. I think peak hp was at like 4,000 rpm. I know the gold nugget/hairy chested/too tan Corvette guys from that era liked them that way but I am glad GM picked up the pace in the ensuing years. Now we have flat plane crank Mustangs pumping out 500+hp from just a bit over 5 liters.

I almost bought a new 911 about 18 months ago and now regret not doing so. All the Porsche sports cars now have turbocharged engines and I think that destroys an engine's character. Yeah I know all about the perfectly flat torque curves; as long as you are at max boost all the time. For my tastes a naturally aspirated engine will win me over every time.

Way OT I know so I'll close by say bravo to Chrysler for the 285 V6 in the Wrangler.
