Btw, there was a time when I couldn't stand those old stock Wrangler wheels... but man, I wouldn't change a thing on that Islander. Don't see many stock ones anymore.
PJ4, 4th letter of the alphabet is D.
Could be it.

When Baja Yellow was announced two years ago, the paint code was the same as either Stinger Yellow or another yellow Chrysler had offered in the past.

Anyone know what this code may match up to?
Chrysler does indeed re-use color codes. However, when they did this, it turns out to be a similar color, but not identical color.

For example, when we were speculating what Tank would look like, Tank's color code matched up with a Dark Green Metallic used by Chrysler in the past. While Tank did turn out to be dark green, it wasn't the exact same shade of dark green, nor was Tank metallic.

What will be the average wait time if you order a 2017 Wrangler once production
starts up?
And is there an advantage to getting your
order in now prior to start up?

re: 2017 Wrangler JK Information Thread

I remember wanting an Islander really bad in the late 1980's back in high school. Now that vehicle looks so wimpy compared to a Willy's or Rubicon. The standard tire size for that era was a 205/75r15 and the ride height was about like a passenger car. Optional tires were a 225/75r15 which were pretty big for that period.

I hope acid is not this bleached out looking but given the past yellows like Detonator and Baja have been much more saturated I can see them going with the same hue as Detonator or Baja but a much lighter shade.

We'll know pretty soon.

Once in full swing, most orders only take about five weeks. That is what my troublesome Rubicon took last year. I'd say 4 to 6 weeks is the norm.

I ordered my 2016 about a week after the order banks opened last July.
production started on Sept 4th and mine was built on Sept 8th. (they did actually start building 2016's on Sept 1st) I picked mine up on Sept 28th.
it also spent 7 days at the body vendor having the black bear decal put on.

So all in all if you order early its pretty quick. Mine was the 186th wrangler ordered for 2106.

Thanks so much for this info. So much more informative than the dealers. Anyone have a guess as to when the new colors (specifically Chief) into production? Any chance these will hit the showroom floor before the end of the year?

I had a dealer say he's guessing Chief will go in production after the press release

Is it possible to order a 2017 Black Bear in September? Or will it have to wait until the spring of 2017?

The Black Bear edition was discontinued already.

Do you mean the Big Bear edition?

That starts production in February so you should be able to order it in January.

No more Black Bear Thunderjet... are you referring to the Big Bear edition?
Looks like production isn't until Feb... so ordering after the New Year sounds feasible. By then we should have some details re the package and color availability.
