There's a $11000 difference between a Sport S and a Hard Rock...

Maybe you should figure out your budget first?

The website is not an e-commerce site. It's there to showcase the current products. It's there to help dealers sell cars. It's not there to say: "Hey, look! That 2016 we're trying to sell you will soon be a year old."

It's called "Build and Price" for a reason. If you can't build and get what you want, it shouldn't be on there. Plus, they are notorious for having incorrect information. If it's there to showcase the current products, the information should at least be correct.

One of the major functions of their "Build and Price" is to search dealerships in your area for vehicles that are close in configuration to your dream Jeep. I would venture to say, that it would be true today, that you're much more likely to find a 2016 sitting on a lot, than a 2017.

Here's my advice: Even though lots of Jeeps get lifted, many (most?) of those lifts are not done right. Key components that affect suspension geometry are omitted. Bolts (especially on the track bars and control arms) are not torqued back to factory spec. Etc. The result is a lot of lifted Jeeps running around with suspensions that are slowly working themselves apart, or are just flat dangerous to drive.

Maybe you've lifted a bunch of Jeeps and already know all of this. If so, my apologies. But if you haven't, please use a genuinely reputable shop to help you through the lift. Pay attention to suspension geometry issues. Things like drop brackets or front new lower control arms really do matter, even for a 2.5" lift. You'll also probably need an adjustable front track bar. The rear end has its own challenges. People will tell you you don't need the geometry components if you're "only" doing a 2.5" lift, but many 2.5s wind up closer to 3 or 4".

Read up. Do it right. Make sure it's all bolted back together the right way. Using quality parts is useless if they're not installed properly.

We are off tomorrow to order our 2 door '17 and I need to decide with the 6-spd manual and the cold weather package should I up the diffs to 3.73? We do not trailer anything and only use the trailer hitch for a bicycle rack.

Thanks

Congrats! Yes, you should get the 3.73s. It's just about the perfect gearing for most Jeeps.

What color did you choose?

If you order the Max Trailer Tow package you will get the 3.73's and the hitch for less money than ordering them separately.

Coming from someone who has been involved with financials for the past 30 years... what exactly does his "budget" have to do with his decision? That's how a 16 year old who just received his first paycheck thinks.
Having the means isn't a reason to buy the most expensive version of anything.... from couches to cars.
I'm sure there are plenty of people on this forum who can afford a Hard Rock or a decked out Sahara but are honest enough with themselves to buy what they actually need or will use... not want. Thinking like this will almost guarantee you a nice fat bank account throughout life.

I'll ask as I may have been mislead (or just confused-not my 1st time) by the 2016 brochure that the Max tow package was only on 4 doors??

I guess I'm trying to emphasize the "Build". I get all excited to put together my dream Black Bear Edition (still up on their site) and I go to the dealer to order it...nope...hasn't been available to order for months. Nice try. I highly doubt there are Black Bears hanging out on lots with the exact build someone has created.

I know someone is going to bring up how you could still get Dragons well after the model year closed. But that's not the point I'm trying to make.

If you can't order it, don't have it as an option to build. If someone wants one, when they click on it, it should take them to an inventory page with a "this is what you can choose from because we ain't makin' 'em no mo', sucka" or something a tad nicer.

Mainly I'm complaining that they don't update their site and they have a lot of errors. We've all seen them. I'm saying that they need to fix that. Especially since that is where people go to first for their vehicle research.

Now back to our regularly scheduled program.

I guess I need to define what's meant when I wrote "close to".

It means not a perfect match. The site could offer/list Wranglers with many (BUT NOT ALL) of the features you are looking to get, but possibly not a Black Bear.

I bet you're the type that freaks out because you want an "add to cart" button. That's not what the website is meant to be.
