re: 2017 Wrangler JK Information Thread

Hello everyone. This is my first time posting on this forum, but I'm no stranger to Jeeps. I am writing because I'm ordering my first new Jeep soon (all others were used), and I have a question on the colors that I'm having difficulty getting answers to.

First off, we were going to order a 2016 Wrangler Unlimited Sport in Hydro Blue, but were too late in selling off our old vehicles to get an order in. Now 2017 is coming along and blue is no longer available. I noticed the Chief Blue colors, but it says late availability. What I would like to know is how late. I can hold off for a month or two to order, but not much past that. This is where the conflict comes in.

I saw a quote a few pages back that stated it wasn't until March 2017, and I can't wait that long to order. However, I was also at the Woodward Cruise last weekend and spoke to a Jeep spokeswoman in the Mopar display. She said that, as long as the new color was on a standard model and not a special edition, it would be available to order by mid-to-late October 2016. That I can wait for.

Normally I wouldn't be so concerned, but one of the vehicles I had to sell to get a new Jeep was my pride and joy, a 1977 CJ5 Renegade with many hard-to-find options (original softop and vinyl doors still in excellent shape, fiberglass hard top and doors, military seats, factory lift, original AMC 258 I-6 in excellent mechanical shape, stuff like that) that I've had for many years. I really didn't want to, but I didn't have the money or skill to finish the restoration and I made sure it went to someone who would. Since this is my first new Jeep and I had to sacrifice my old one for it, I would like to have my cake and eat it too, and I've always wanted one in blue or dark green. My wife isn't too fond of dark green, but she does love blue. If anyone out there could help me out with this, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

IMHO, highly unlikely. That's based on Acid Yellow not being listed as regular 2017 color, even with the "late availability" qualifier. In the past, that was an indication that it will be a Special Edition only color.

As Mr Spock would say, the chances are 1 to the forth power.

Well I did it. Ordered a 2017 Jeep Rubicon Hard Rock. Hypergreen, 6-speed manual, dual top, tailgate reinforcement, tow pkg, supplemental side airbags, smokers grp (nice coin holder), 430N radio, engine block heater and AC with automatic temp. control. Decided I wanted a wild color for my Jeep. Also decided I still wanted to shift. Still fun and more control. Smiling when I left and still smiling. WOOHOO!!!!!! This is even after my youngest called and said her call was broke down. Or the tacky text from my x-wife to help on my youngest daughter's college books. And my daughter also said she still needed a laptop. Still smiling, a little more beer, but still smiling. Email this morning said order had been received and passed inspection. Waiting on September allocation to get a scheduled build date. That email really helped my day.

My dealer is checking, but the good ship SS Hard Rock may have already sailed on me. Curses. But it definitely wasn't available in Hypergreen when I ordered 8/12

I'll post what he says when he calls back.

I just checked, and the ordering system currently allows Hypergreen for the Hard Rock. Order banks are full for the August allocation, so an order cannot be sent to the factory until 9/12.

Could I still order now, but it'll just sit in limbo until then? I'd kinda like to sneak in a hard rock order.

All 3 were great, only wish could have bought from each!
Guess someone needs to start a 2017 Waiting Room Thread!!!!!
I tried one of the dealers you mentioned, Beamans. But they came up short of Koons offer to the tune of just over $1,000. They wont budge, which is sad because if I could of kept the price within $500 would of stayed local to avoid the travel expenses. Worse yet, they told I would not qualify for the $500 military discount even though I am retired from the USAF with 21 years service and my DD214 to prove it.
One more dealer to check before finalizing things with Koons. Appreciated the info and good luck with your Hard Rock.

I think it depends if Hypergreen is still available on the HR come Sept 12.

Oh I know for me I know that plays a part in it. I will research the heck of whatever (not just cars) to the point my wife basically says "Just go buy the damn (insert whatever I am debating on buying here)!!!!!" She totaled her van last year and didn't want a bigger car. I insisted we need something large-ish since we have a kid. I gave her my Audi, and thus a two week marathon of research ended with a Baja Yellow Sahara 6-sp MANUAL with no options.

This was our first Jeep and I will say I love it. There is just something about that just brings a smile to me. People think I am crazy to go from Audi to Jeep, but it's not about how fancy a car is that draws me to it. It's about how much I enjoy it (I am a huge fan of Miatas and GTIs if that gives you an idea).

I tend to not keep cars long (usually the warranty period), and the warranty on this Jeep will end right when the (hopefully) diesel Jeeps come out. Will it be enough to entice me to buy. That remains to be seen. Either way, I know I will research the heck out of it and will know everything you can by that time.
