Cool, I am so glad 2017 Wrangler thread has started. I am seriously disappointed with the 2016 colors. I hope they make an orange color for 2017. I was ready to pull the trigger for a new jeep, but with the lack of good colors and only seeing mostly black, silver and white Jeeps on the dealer lots I will have to say this was a horrible year for Jeep Wrangler, at least from my perspective. Thumbs up for 2017, as it should be better!

Great to see this 2017 information page up. After reading through everyone's posts it's good to know I'm not the only one who feels let down with 2016s color choices. Black, White, Rhino, Granite, Billet, Mojave.... they just don't do it for me. We need some fun colors. Hydro and Firecracker were the only tempting colors. Sarge is only available on the 75th and Xtreme Purple only on one special edition. Hyper? Cool but, nope.
So... looks like it's time to sit back and see what 2017 has to offer. Keeping my fingers crossed.
That's how 2014 was. A monochromatic palette of colors. That is the ONLY reason I ordered Flame Red--it was the only color other than Hydro Blue that was NOT a derivertive of Black or White! Of course, if I had waited until 2015, I could have had Orange or Yellow.

Discontinued exterior colors:

Mojave Sand

Sarge Green

Xtreme Purple

Hydro Blue

I can't believe that they only offered Sarge Green and Xtreme Purple on the special models and now their gone. And Mojave Sand didn't last long either. What's up FCA!!???!

I guess that is what makes Sarge and XP so very special.

Plus, there was never even a hint that they would ever be offered on anything else.

2015 was a better year than 2016 for the Wranglers. They ruined the Sahara with all the chrome inserts and darkening the wheels. They put out way too many special models, each having only a slight variation making it too hard to even find a specific special model in the right color with even coming close to having the right options on a dealer lot.

I ordered my '15 JK in August of 2014 and the same '16 model built with the same options is around $3,000 more MSRP. And the colors in '15 at least offered an orange and yellow version. Extreme Purple finally coming to fruition was the '16 year highlight for me (though I still love my Hydro Blue better).

I'm stoked to see what Jeep will do for the final year of the JK.

Happy they're discontinuing Hydro. I have a 2014 and there are so many running around. I was hoping they'd only do it that year on the freedoms. Oh well. Still love it.

2014 JK Hydro Blue Freedom Edition
I was planning on buying a Hydro Blue next year (last year of the JK), but found out in late February from a friend at Jeep that they were discontinuing it so I ordered a new Hydro Blue Rubicon, which will be here this week sometime!

FYI, they are going to have a blue for 2017, slightly brighter than Hydro but not pearl/metallic.

Totally agree about the '16 colors, it was probably the only reason I didn't end up ordering one.

Now the tough decision is going to be jumping on the last JK or holding out for a JL. I'll have to weigh the 2017 colors against whatever JL news appears in the coming months! I really like the pentastar, I wonder how they would upgrade it.

#32 ·
Would we be able to see it before the JK window closes?
Jeep has already announced that there will be a minimum of a 6 month period (overlap) where they will be assembling both new JK's (to be called Wrangler Classics) and the new JL.

So, as long as you don't procrastinate for too long after you see a JL in person, you will still be able to order a JK.

#36 ·
Anyone know whether the Willys Wheeler will continue to be offered as a trim level in 2017?

Also, do the dates in Milous' original post suggest that it's not possible to order a JK between April 16 and July 17? That seems to be a long time to keep the order book shut...

That's correct, you have one week left if you want to order a 2016 Wrangler. After that, you can only get what's on or coming to dealers lots.

My thoughts exactly, J2fold...I was primed to finally order this spring but am so uninspired with the 2016 colors that I decided to enjoy a few more months of no car payments and see what 2017 brings color-wise. I'd be super-geeked for Copperhead, Mango Tango or something similar.
While nothing is know yet, from the past, while we get to see the new colors, ordering one is usually delayed. For example, we all knew about Mojave Sand and Hyper Green for 2016MY last September, but these colors are only starting to come out now.

In other words, even if you get super-geeked over some new color for 2017MY, you might have close to full year of no car payments before actually getting to drive one home.

And then, there are always those unexpected surprise colors, like XP and Sarge for 2016MY.

Was gonna order a 2016 Unlimited HRR this past fall but decided to wait and get the last model year of the JK instead.
Its still unclear if the JK's to be built in 2018 (along side the new JL's), will still be referred to as 2017 models, or instead be 2018 "Wrangler Classic" models.
