Re: 2017 Wrangler Redesign!
In my opinion, a V8 has a 0.01% chance of happening. In fact, inside sources are claiming the 3.6L might go away too in favor of the 3.2L. Due to EPA regs, engines in ALL vehicles are going to start getting smaller, not larger. I mean, look at the F-150. Three different V6 options now. The Camaro, Mustang, and Challenger are all selling more V6 models than V8s. Enthusiasts are going to keep seeing smaller displacement engines as time goes on thanks to the government.
There is also a LOT of talk about IFS being in the testing phase for the next "JL" Wrangler and the current soft top design being altered due to federal crash standards changing.
If these engineers with "inside knowledge" are correct, the JL will vary quite a bit from the JK and for the offroad crowd it's not going to be a positive change. Personally, I think I'm going to shoot for a 2016 model since there should be some deals to be had and the resale on those will be phenomenal for years to come.
