I like some of the things I'm hearing, such as it being lighter(at the cost of an independent suspension) and aluminum body panels or frame sections. Slightly more aero dynamic. More back seat room/seats being less straight up. Lets not forget the possibility of a diesel or HEMI. Ok I added the HEMI but we can hope. I read a lot of the things that people want change on the current models are being held off till the redesign. Post any new or wishful news!
Nope. Not interested in the redesign.
I'm going to order a '17 Unlimited (last year of the JK) right at the last possible moment before they stop production to go along with my 2014 2dr I just bought in March so there is an aftermarket parts commonality between the two.
As for those concept pictures - those are just "What If" drawings, not official in any way, shape, or form.
The new redesign will not have IFS.
Marchionne basically said it without coming out and saying it at the Detroit Auto Show group interview. (Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne at the Detroit Auto Show: 2014
"I think we’ll update design and style, but without touching the fundamental elements of the Wrangler. You’ve got to be very, very careful. You can update it, but you can’t change it. If you take the nature of the Wrangler out, you’ll kill it."
He says they will change the design and style but won't change the fundamentals. The main fundamental element of the Wrangler is it's solid axles.
