Re: 2018 Wrangler JL Information Thread

I know @soCalRubicon I mean we can talk about till we're both blue in the face and I'm sure the JL/JT/JP is going to be very capable (mechanically) but as for structurally or appearance wise.. we're just not liking it. Even though it will closely resemble the JK.. the fact that this new rib cage structure, turns us off.. Not being from an off road world, I have watch several over the years.. this new rib cage system doesn't seem as structurally sound as the sports bar.. The diesel as you've suggest would be a nice touch, however, getting only 26 or mpg's is not what I would deem a very desirable fuel ratio for a diesel.. I guess this comes from once owning a VW Jetta TDI that achieved an astounding 60 mpgs on our trip from NC to Maine.. but again Diesel fuel back then was only .99 a gal.

I'd guess the new roof design, whatever it may be, will be more than fine for any off roading you're going to do with it.

But will it still leak? Its not a true Jeep, unless it leaks. That's the DNA.

Those of you looking forward to a diesel might find this turn-of-events interesting...

Diesel no longer an option.

@WaltA I've already said my peace in that thread and it met with some resistance.. never the less the Diesel option was off the table for use 2 months ago.

If the JL gets a diesel for NA market, it probably won't be till 2020 if ever.

I have been teased by a diesel wrangler for far too long.Looking at other manufactures (all German), the VW scandal also hit Audi and BMW diesels.

All that's left is Land Rover. Rumor is their diesel may not last much longer. I ordered a new Discovery to replace my JKUR.

The VW scandal has directly hit FCA too. So, it might understandable leave FCA is a bit "gun shy" and might not see enough potential profit to offset all the risk in bringing a domestic diesel to the Wrangler.

Only time will tell.

Have you seen it? Looks just as strong, if not stronger to me.

@Milous, there's no point in me continuing to discus why we don't like the new 2018 JL wrangler..

Well, if we're going to comment on things we know nothing about... I hate having to drive in the Indy 500 every spring, clocking in as a photographer for Playboy magazine every day and playing bass for the Rolling Stones on the weekends.
No offense Amp... but the upcoming JL is one of the best kept secrets in the world at the moment. You are basing your opinions on rumors. If there is anyone on this site who can shed some light on this secrecy... it's our man Milous. When he talks... I listen.
