I believe Volkswagen suspended future sales of most (all?) of their turbo diesel equipped vehicles after going through their whole debacle as well.
Yes, VW dieselgate broke in Sept 2015 so all
diesel car sales are suspended, new and used. I believe 2009 through Sept 2015. They are supposedly working on a "fix" but nothing yet. So in July 2016 they finally opened a portal and you could opt for the fix or buyback. They valued your car at what it was worth as of Sept 2015 plus restitution $$$. I believe you have until Sept 2018 to opt for the buyback. So basically your cars value doesn't depreciate. They have dollar amounts to mileage brackets so you don't want to drive so much you fall into the next bracket as they reduce your dollar amount. Also the car has to be able to drive under it's own power onto the lot. So that means you're praying the car doesn't get totaled or stolen. We had to wait until Nov for the judge's court ruling for the actual start of the process. So back in July my husband said screw the fix, we're just doing the buyback, that's when we decided what new vechicles we'd be getting. My 2010 Jetta went back in Dec and DH got a Silverado crew cab. His Jetta wagon goes back Feb 2 and my JKU Sahara has been built and just about to ship. On Dec 21st we had his car approved for buyback and the earliest date was Jan 26 but I opted for Feb 2 because you gain new mileage at the begining of the month and we need it due to the higher mileage on the car. Our buyback specialist told us VW has rented about 2,500 warehouses/lots around the US and the cars are hauled from the dealerships right away. We will be so glad when this is done.
