I'm sure they'll add a big honking piece of plastic to cover everything up!

re: 2018 Wrangler JL/JP Information Thread (OLD)

There is an article on autoblog today talking about the updcoming charger refresh and that it will share the new turbo 4 being developed for the wrangler (2.0l Hurricane?). The claim is that it will be 300+ hp. That would put it as a nice bump over the pentastar, plus probably at least a little bit less weight. I'm intrigued.

Hmm, must have been a "dealer source" that had been visiting JeepGarage (see post #1)... but source forgot to give us proper credit...

Yea, I have noticed that now on a couple of websites.

Though, it might be nice to be internationally recognized as THE expert on this.

With that much supreme power, maybe you should take it for a test drive. Do you think that, if you add to post #1 that there will be a $29 HEMI 6.2L option on the JL, that someone at Jeep would think it must be true, and quickly implement it?

re: 2018 Wrangler JL/JP Information Thread (OLD)

So, my big question is will they actually put the diesel in the 2018. Also, what will they mess up from the JKU??

I just recently, last year, pulled the trigger and purchased a 2016 Hard Rock and I am now about to load it with some very expensive upgrades in the way of stronger axles, a ridiculous lift, etc... I feel maybe 5 years down the road I may even visit Bruiser Conversions for a $30k diesel upgrade. But with all that would I have a better performing JKU or be better off leaving my beautiful Hard Rock relatively stock and getting the Diesel as a factory option in 2018?? But how would the 3.0L Eco Diesel stand up to a 3.8L Cummins ISF?? I think it may be more expensive but may be a better all around go anywhere with good MPG on the Cummins??

Any opinions on that ??

You, me and a lot of other people will order a diesel when it is available. I have a 2016 JKUR now but that can go in trade for a diesel JL.

Yes... A lot of us waiting on the diesel option... but now also on how it would look...

I really hope they keep the looks (slanted windshield aside) of the existing Wrangler. It will be sad if the new Wrangler looks like a modified Liberty

A diesel would be nice but I'm sure it will only be available with an auto and I don't think I am ready to go to an auto tranny yet. It will be very nice to have engine options though

Also hoping for upgraded electronics like a factory rear view camera...

I wouldn't mind a low front mounted camera. Brand it the "crawl cam" and allow it to be turned on under a certain speed. Would be killer for some of those tricky off road moments...
