a couple questions about jk

I'm pretty old school and don't need a bunch of high tech stuff. That said, I'm getting older and there are a few options I've seen on other vehicles recently that caught my eye.

First is these back up cameras. With my old Cherokee, I could just pop the hatch and back up to the trailer 1st time every time. With the JK's rear mounted spare tire and swing gate arrangement, it seems like a camera/viewer would be a great option (I hook up either a utility or boat trailer several times a week). Is there a factory option on the 2017 JK? If so, can you see the hitch ball and trailer tongue in the display? If not, what are some good aftermarket units to look into?

Second is these tire pressure monitoring systems. Never had one before, but there is an idiot light on wifey's car. Its better than nothing, but would be far more useful if it told you which tire(s) low. I saw one on a new F150 that actually showed the measured pressure on all four tires. Is this available on the JK? Be nice not to have to walk around the Jeep with a pressure gauge and check each tire, especially in winter.

How does the V6 Pentastar compare to the old '99 4.0L straight six. My old Cherokee really pulled well, was geared great for pretty much everything.

No; there is still no factory option for a rear camera on the Wrangler, and that includes 2017. There many, many aftermarket choices available (and hundreds of on-line postings about them), with costs ranging from under $50, to several hundred dollars. Personally, I went with a Kenwood camera that allows one to select from several available views, including a split screen showing straight back (typical rear view) and straight down (at your hitch) simultaneously.

If you order the Connectivity Package, you gets several features, including the EVIC display under the speedometer, which can display several things including tire pressure for each of the four tires (but not the spare). However, it is not real time. For example, you can't use it instead of a pressure gauge while filling the tires.

I had a '99 XJ too, but honestly that was too many years ago for me to remember some details.

Re: a couple questions about jk

I had a 99 XJ as well...loved that thing. I have not towed with the JK yet (mine has the tow package though) and I don't expect to be disappointed at all. It's got more HP and torque than the XJ did.

Re: a couple questions about jk

The 3.6 will not disappoint. It flat out runs like a V8 engine. I had three TJ's all with 4.0L and a 2012 JK with the 3.6 and it was no comparison. If you haven't driven one yet, go to a dealer and test drive one today!
