Adding an integrated oem navigation system on 2016 wrangler

Hi,

On a 2016 wrangler rubicon that came originally with no navigation,

Is it possible to upgrade (change) to the one with navigation?

Anyone did it ? How complicated is it ? Costs?

I'll appreciate any help & insights !

Tnx. ,

Rafi

P.s. Yes,yes, I heard of waze...:-)

Then a 430N should be a simple "plug and play" swap.

I'm a couple days late, but yes, it is absolutely plug and play. I did the swap on my '13. The factory 430n uses your Sirius antenna as the GPS receiver. I'd say the entire swap takes less than 20 minutes. You have to make sure (at least on the '13s, I assume it hasn't changed since) that the 430n is a high speed bus. There are several tools on the internet that will tell you which bus speed the unit is based on the serial number.

I found mine on eBay for around $400 IIRC, and I'm pretty sure it came out of a Ram 2500. You'll have to keep an eye out for one though, they tend to go pretty quickly, and usually for a good bit more than I paid.

I would think a dealer would have to activate a new factory radio from another vehicle for Anti-thief.

It's been a while, so I don't remember if there was an anti theft code or not, but I know I didn't have to go to the dealer for anything.

That said, if you do get one that has been removed from another vehicle, make sure the seller will guarantee it against any anti theft faults or assist you with getting an unlock code if required.

Try a salvage yard with low miles.

A couple of things to keep in mind:

If you want XM to work, there is a combo GPS/ XM antenna available that requires location above the sound bar...and full-to-partial removal of the top.

If you want GPS only, there is a magnetic one available that after trying several locations, the place with the strongest signal (for me) was with it stuck to the top of the radio chassis.
