Thanks Jim! Is the "balla" in your screen name because you make a lot of money or because you play a sport that involves a ball? Or both? Just wondering. You can pick up the moabs pretty Inexpensive off of craigslist.

I am running spidertrax wheel adjusters converting my 4.5 x 5 to a 5 x 5. I guess it works as a 1 inch spacer as well. Although I didn't originally purchase them thinking I would need a spacer. My tires are only about 10 inches wides. I have the stock rims and tires from rubicon JK.

Re: Any other Wrangler owners?

What? All wranglers are 4wd. They are every bit as off-road capable and modifiable as they have always been and although it's not a hemi the pentastar v-6 is a great engine.

There are 2WD Wranglers too, but new ones aren't made anymore.

Re: Any other Wrangler owners?

Yeh, that was all kinds if my bad. First, I failed to realize the thread is like 5 years old. The comment I responded to was 3 yrs old. So the comment came in before the pentastar was added and the 4x2 option was removed. I was bad at forum.

Re: Any other Wrangler owners?

that photo though...It's auto and lacks 4wd. I know a lot of people like auto, but for me it's got to be standard and 4x4. I did learn from this experience that it's not just the early jk's that had 4x2 variants. I hated the jk when they first arrived. The jku has grown me now

I recognize this thread is zombie status but what did you not like about the JK?

I have heard that before from people and always wanted to ask?

Re: Any other Wrangler owners?

It wasn't the jk itself I don't like. I drive a jku currently, but the image I was responding to was that of an automatic with no 4wd. For me, those are both deal breakers. The complaints I've heard about early jk's were mostly related to it having a weaker engine and I think 4wd was an upgrade at some point rather than being the standard.
Mine was produced late enough that they had started using the pentastar (which is a great engine in my opinion) and 4wd was no longer optional.

Re: Any other Wrangler owners?

4x4 was standard for it's base price and the vast majority were built that way... 2wd had a separate base price. I bought an 08 (4x4, 6 speed, Unlimited) brand new in October 07 and studied them a long time.

I think the 2wd idea was to sell the "cool" factor to urban mall crawlers without having to purchase a 4wd, save money and maintenance. Sort of like Toyota Pre-runner truck option on 2wd.

The engine is fine. You will not win races in it and you have to re-gear it to increase tire sizes beyond OE.

My wife has a 2011 GC with the pentastar ... it is a great engine.
